I don’t listen to metal unless there is something interesting about it, like most prog metal as well as bands like Blind Guardian.

I’ve always preferred mellower music though.

I got off only a few months ago, when I was 16 but I still listen to some metal bands occasionally. The lyrical themes in some of its sub-genres became so generic or tasteless, as did a lot of the composition techniques.

Metallica became my favourite band in 3rd or fourth grade(around 97-98) and still is way up there, along with DT, Tool and Opeth! Most of the songs I play on my guitar are Metallica, and I'm not planning on giving them up for a loooooooong time!
