All the people gathering their favourite albums to take with them to a desert island should be sent to exile on that desert island and be locked there forever so that they can finally realise how bad all their favourite albums are, how sh*ty their life on the desert island is, how stupid they were to even imagine it, and how far the reality on the desert island is from their wildest dreams.

And to add insult to the injury, I would give each "desert islander", in addition to their pack, one copy of Kayo Dot Dowsing Anemone With Copper Tongues

well said. and judging by some people's lists, they could use that eleventh album to take a break from the ten they chose that all basically sound the same.

Well, that's the challenge actually.
To get the most variety within your selection.  Some people will choose 2 or 3 albums from the same artist/band, but in the long run you would appreciate the diversity.
And what if you COULDN'T pick any live albums...!
Glad to see Harmonium getting a few votes Clap
Et je ferme les yeux
Puis je croise les doigts
Pour empêcher
Les souvenirs de fuir.

I thought it will be interesting to write down those I've left behind. Still with the rules of 1 album per artist and only studio albums.

Aphrodite's child - 666. How could I give up this one ?
Kate Bush - The dreaming.
Can - Tago mago.
ELP - Trilogy.
Focus - Hamburger concerto. I forgot to put it in. shame on me. Now, what album should I give up for puting this one in ?
Gentle giant - Aquiring the taste.
Jethro Tull - Thick as a brick or Songs from the wood.
Kansas - Leftoverture.
The moody blues - In search of the lost chord or Question of balance.
Matching mole - Little red record.
Pink floyd - Wish you were here or Animals.
Proto-kaw - Early recordings from Kansas.
Strawbs - From the witchwood.
Talk talk - Spirit of eden or Laughing stock.
Vangelis - Heaven and hell.
Yes - Fragile.
