Morse Code and Maneige classics on ProgQuébec records!
Montreal, January 18, 2007 – ProgresSon Music Inc., announced today that it has entered into a licensing agreement with EMI Music Canada to reissue some of the best progressive rock of the 1970’s created by Quebec artists. This agreement will cover the reissue on CD of three albums by the classic progressive rock group Morse Code: La Marche des Hommes, Procréation, and Je Suis le Temps, as well as the first two albums by the classically trained ensemble Maneige: Maneige and Les Porches. ProgresSon will release these titles through its ProgQuébec label. All of the recordings will be remastered and will include histories and photos of the groups, as well as bonus tracks and unreleased material.

All five of these albums have been unavailable legally on CD until now, and risk vanishing as part of Quebec’s vibrant culture. In addition, foreign companies were pirating CDs of these albums from vinyl records, an illegal process that deprives artists from getting paid royalties. Consistent with its founding mission, ProgresSon seeks to curtail piracy and produce legitimate, high-quality reissues of long out-of-print albums by Quebec artists, and now thanks to EMI Music Canada this will become a reality.

“We are extremely grateful to EMI Canada for allowing us to reissue these musical treasures,” states Stephen Takacsy, President of ProgresSon. “For a major label to work with a non-profit organization for the preservation of Quebec culture speaks volumes about its sense of responsibility towards the arts.” “Partnering with ProgresSon makes perfect sense for us, because they are specifically focused on promoting progressive music from Quebec on CD, and this will help us expand our digital catalogue” says Ralph Singh, Manager of Clearances and Licensing at EMI Canada. ProgresSon also hopes to work with other major labels so that Quebec’s progressive musical legacy, much of which is still only available on vinyl, can be readily accessible to Canadians, as well as in international markets. These albums have been scheduled to be released throughout 2007 and early 2008.

It's about time major labels start getting their nose in the kitchen and help indies and small labels as well as prog artists past and present.

I also would like to know if they'll release Vos Voisins and Lasting WEEP plus Frank Dervieux.

No contracts= No reissueThumbs%20Down
Beacause if they reissue without a deal with the compagny ( i think that s RCA)
RCA can make pursuit and they will must removes the cds they are made.

That was the problem for the 2 first maneige albums. The contracts was lost ( if my memory are good)

It would be nice if ProgQuebec would sell their stuff on iTunes...I mean, it's not like they wouldn't get royalties and revenue from that. I'd buy the whole catalog in a heartbeat if I could get it that way.
