I'm just spinning self titled album of english group called 'Ben'. As I can see they are not included in PA and I think they should be. It is their sole album issued on Vertigo (spiral) label in 1971 and it is kind of jazzy prog.
'Sundown, yellow moon, I replay the past
I know every scene by heart, they all went by so fast.....
Either I'm too sensitive or else I'm gettin' soft.'

"Ben" is one of the rarest albums from Vertigo, which is why it hasn't been included, i guess no-ones's heard it!Wink

They should've been added ages ago. I think they are on the master list and it would not take much time and effort since they have only one album.

JR/F to me
let's just stay above the moral melee
prefer the sink to the gutter
keep our sand-castle virtues
content to be a doer
as well as a thinker,
prefer lifting our pen
rather than un-sheath our sword

I have heard one track. Yes I agree, based on that jazz rock/fusion would be the obvious place.

Regarding samples I'm affraid I can't help, but as for the details it would be like this :

- originally issued on Vertigo label: cat. nr. VO 6360 052 (1971)

- personnel:

Peter Davey - alto, tenor, soprano and baritone saxophones, flute and clarinet

Alex Macleery - electric piano, harpsichord and Moog synthesizer

Gerry Reid - electric and acoustic guitars

Len Surtees - bass guitar

David Sheen - drums, congas, percussion and vocals

Side 1 of the record contains following numbers:

'The Influence'   10:05
The Wooing of The Child (K.Jarret)
The Innocence of The Child (P. Davey)
The Interest of The Youth (G. Reid / P. Davey)
The Involvement of The Man (P. Davey)
The Realization (A. Macleery)
The Wooing of The Man (K. Jarret)
The Conclusion (P. Davey / G. Reid / D. Sheen / A. Macleery / L. Surtees)

Gibbon (P. Davey)  9:32

Side 2 :

Christmas Execution (P. Davey)  7:21

Gismo (P. Davey)  11:50

My original vynil unfortunately lost its trace so now I'm listening to Akarma LP reissue cat. nr. AK 247 (2003).

Could any of you please draw up a bio and send it to me or any other Admin? You know that Proto-Prog and Prog-Related additions have to be approved by us first, but in this case the band are already in the Master List, so approval would be a mere formality. However, we do need the details - as leader of a genre team as well as Admin, I can't really start searching for details in order to write up a bio myself. Therefore, I'd appreciate all the help I can get.
