Hi! Do you think this band can be included in our site?

Stackridge [UK]

Albums: Stackridge (71), Friendliness (72), The Man In The Bowler Hat (74, aka Pinafore Days), Extravaganza (75), Mr. Mick (76), Do The Stanley (78), BBC Radio 1 Live In Concert (92)

Thank you

Cheers,

I saw Stackridge live in Glasgow once, mainly because the support act were Camel. (Yes, Stackridge were "bigger" than Camel at the time). Every seat has a leaflet telling you how to "Do the Stanley", their current album at the time. (I think it must have been about 1976 Gatot for "DTS", not '78 as you state).

Stackridge's music was certainly diverse, with many different influences, and was often humorous. The diversity could be quite jarring at times, with quasi-classical pieces sitting next to whimsical folk.

I don't think they were ever a "serious" prog band, but perhaps their diversity makes them worthy?

Easy Livin,

Thanks a lot. Your info about Camel being the support act impresses me because I never thought the band as big as that at the time. Yes, I agree their music os diverse, it's like PHISH which has a diverse music as well.

Thanks
