The legendary norwegian band Aunt Mary has been confirmed as the norwegian headliner for the Subtacto Progfest in Holmenkollen in august.

The band was supposed toplay at the legendary Ragnarock festival in Holmenkollen in 1973 (probably has the same legendary status in Norway as Woodstock 1968 has in the rest of the world), but because of delays in the schedule the band never got on stage.

Now, 34 years later, they will get the chance!

The band comes with the legendary line-up of Jan Groth (vocals), Bjørn Christiansen (guitar), Svein Gundersen (bass) and Ketil Steinsvik (drums).

Aunt Mary is one of the early and by many considered to be one of Norways definitely best prog bands. Their music is a mix of heavy hard-rocking tunes, combined with clear influences from the symphonic genre.

The more symphonic sound however didn't appeared until their third, and last studio album, "Janus". A great concept-album to start with. If you want the more thundering sounds coming from AUNT MARY, look for 1972s "Loaded". High-skilled musicians combined with good, creative melodies makes AUNT MARY a important Norwegian band to become acquainted with.

1972 - Loaded (Philips LP)
1973 - Janus (Vertigo LP)
1974 - Whispering Farewell (Karussell RE AV 1.LP)
1974 - Best Of Vol. 1 (comp.) (Philips LP)
1975 - Best Of Vol. 2 (comp.) (Philips LP)
1977 - Janus (Philips RE - LP)
