IMHO, their other albums have little relation, sound-wise, to 'Mercator Projected'. The follow-up 'Snafu' was more straight-forward jazz rock without the Eastern elements their name would imply, imho. I seem to remember the third eponymous album was different again, and even a bit folkier. So I wouldn't say that their other albums are at all in the same vein as the debut you have.

If you liked 'Mercator Projected', you MIGHT like Quintessence. Personally, I feel Quintessence's music has dated considerably more than East Of Eden's (especially the chants that occasionally crop up on their albums and the mystical lyrics), but it's in a similar vein, IMHO.

Probably, you mean Gryphon. It's not similar to Mercator Pojected, in my opinion, yet it is a great band and is worth checking, undoubtedly.

As for East of Eden -- yes, the logical solution is to have their second album, Snafu.

Decided what album to go for yet? Snafu, maybe?

Early eastern-inspired krautrock has a lot incommon with Mercator Pojected.
Check out the debuts from Embryo, Mythos, Out of Focus, and Krokodil's  third album, and the swedish Algarnas Tradgård. Quintessence two first and maybe uk's High Tide + Magic Carpet?

All I could think of.
Over land and under ashes
In the sunlight, see - it flashes
Find a fly and eat his eye
But don't believe in me
Don't believe in me
Don't believe in me

And finding their 90's reunion album Kalipse in a dumper bin for 2 quid very recently , I realised was a real bargain for a nice album of modern jazz rock fusion.
The best eclectic music on the Web,8-11pm BST/GMT THURS.
