Threshold have released their new album "Dead Reckoning"

you can hear "Slipstream" and "Pilot in the Sky of Dreams" at

http://www.myspace.com/thresholdofficial

or

http://www.thresh.net/

In my book this is a bloody good band, certainly the best cd I bought last year was
"Subsurface".

Reference a recent discussion I also like Dream Theater, also in my top 6 prog bands.

Threshold has got guts and also heart.

this cd has already got rad review at www.melodicrock.com an 95 or 96 i forger somewhere round there this is definately cd u dont want to be without this year....

subsurface was more aimed at politcal standbase for lyrics this one is more on how media likes to follow everyone else not be them also how we get lost in our dreams etc it has multiple theme to it.....

if i had to compare the 2 to none other it is impossilbe both r killer albums subsurface and dead reckoning...

Its an enjoyable enough CD some engaging moments,  though I was hoping for something a little more mature sounding from these guys they are getting older now Smile

I agree with lighthouse, though I would add they have much greater past material.

Critical Mass was their pick. This "Dead Reckoning" is too simple and forward-metal oriented.

It doesn't look like this one is available until April 24th in the USA.  I guess I have to wait. :(

^ yes, it was released in Europe last friday though.

Many magazines praise the album and say that it's better than Subsurface ... I can't agree. Subsurface is my favorite, it's their most solid release with the best songwriting and melodies.

^^^ Same here, Mike. I actually prefer Critical Mass and Hypothetical to this one too, but that doesn't change the fact that it's a beautiful album. It doesn't disappoint in providing inspired melodies in a  tasteful instrumental arrangement. That's what I've come to love them for and this album is proof that they're still masters of their own style.

I was a little disappointed when I first heard it, because I expected more like Subsurface,
however it grows on you, like many albums you have to hear them a few times over.  It is a
different creative direction, and a good one.

Various of the tracks were previewed on Rogues Gallery, with Frans a few weeks ago.
