Don't be an..."Evil Woman," instead, "Roll up and see the show!" Heh.

Okay, I don't know anymore songs by 'em. But I'm sure you do! They're both kinda sweet, I guess. All I know is that I requested KRTH 101 would play Moody Blues, and about ten hours later, I get ELO. Coincidence? Probably...

I didn't check to see if they were bands but you know, infinite band name event horizon

HAHAHA! Elf is the band that one Ronnie James Dio started in, but it wasn't a shortened form of an E-L phrase...it was just a reference to supranatural woodland critters.

what about ELOySmile.
Elf has really great one album, Trying to Burn the Sun. Easily on par to Rainbow - Dio era. From those above I slightly prefer ELO.

I have a soft spot for On the Third Day, Eldorado,Face the Music and the third side of Out of the Blue but that's about it. I have never been able to get on with ELP

Do 'The Stanley' otherwise I'll thrash you with some rhubarb.

I second the opinion that ELO, until they went overboard on the radio dance floor friendly sound, were an interesting, & yes, progressive band. SOmetimes "poppish", sometimes "pretentious" (how unprog that is , eh), but melding many of the same  influences that other more critically revered groups also did in their music. Maybe their downfall was that they eventually did enjoy massive success, which oft times is ammunition enough for some purists to denigrate their masterworks.Star

After Out of the Blue, ELO made that awful disco album, Discovery. Atrociouos cash-in cr*p IMHO.
They didn't need to go down that road cash-wise as they were one of the biggest selling bands in the World before Discovery.Maybe they had to cash-in because the size of the Out of the Blue tour was a bank-breaker.Maybe the band just liked disco . The scourge of prog.

ELO is pretty awful, if you ask me.  ELP on the other hand is awesome.
