They're pretty good. Listen to them. There are three samples on their site. I made direct links for convenience:
from 2006 album Three Seats Behind A Triangle: 6. Devotion (Part II) - Flying Time 7. Tension Blossoms from 2004 album Osada Vida: 12. In(s) Thru Mental I would classify them as prog metal. Their website: http://www.osadavida.art.pl/ Edited by Tuzvihar - March 29 2007 at 16:21 |

Thanks Tuz, I added them to the PMT chart.
Is there a Myspace for them, perhaps?

Yes, I know them!!!
I even wrote about them some time ago... If I remember well, the band was actually looking for a label that would release their recordings... I once read about them in a local newspaper, there was a short article about the band and their upcoming concert somewhere in Silesia (I even wanted to go there after my lectures at the studies... ) |

I listened to the samples a week ago, and they were good. I'll be sure to listen to them again soon.

I have a life beyond PA, a job, a family...
And also other duties in PA aside from the Prog-Metal Team.... (RIO/Avant/Zeuhl and Discographies and other band additions in other genres).
Is that enough for you?

Sure, Tuz, don't worry (that's why I added the icon at the end).
I will probably have time for PMT "duties" this weekend (along adding another band there).

Fantastic band! I think Indukti might get replaced as my favorite Prog Metal band.

Prog metal? Come on, this band has more to offer, this is excellent heavy progressive (two years ago I started to support this category but Prog Archives works quite slowly ), their heavy progrock sound, dynamics, variety and subtle musical ideas remind me of late Seventies Rush and early Ayreon (not the sound but the structure)

My problem with the prog metal category for Osada Vida is that progheads who don't like (or even hate) prog metal tend to avoid reading Osada Vida reviews, like neo-prog 'haters' avoid reading neo-prog reviews (and I know many of them!). So that's why I mentioned the category 'heavy progressive (rock)' and I am glad that Avestin did the same in his review. Perhaps that after many years of discussing about it, Prog Archives will start to use this category because it will make things more clear for progheads, Heavy Prog scouts the 'grey' borders between symphonic prog, hardrock and prog metal and will fit for new bands like Entrance, Riverside, Matraz, Toccata, Presto Ballet and Dimension X .... in my opinion.

^^^ I agree with Erik about where they should be moved, but for different reasons.
First I believe they have much more than just Prog Metal, they are closer to Symphonic that some bands that are in the sub-genre, so I believe there are many things going in Osada Vida to limit them in just one sub-genre.
Now, about the prejudices, I don't care, we won't change the reality of a band because people don't like Prog Metal or Neo Prog, if Osada Vida was a Prog Metal band exclusively, I would believe they should go in Prog metal.
A band is not better for being in Symphonic or Art Rock than for being in Prog Metal or Neo Prog, we shouldn't surrender to this prejudices, a band should go where they belong, and I believe Osada Vida will fit better in Art Rock now and later in Heavy Prog.
If somebody doesn't like Neo Prog or Prog Metal, it's their choice they are the ones who are loosing some great music.
Excellent band, reminds me of Rush and even Uriah Heep in some moments, pluis touches of King Crimson.
Iván
