Mandi,

I have to ask....given the cover....and you say the lyrics are poor......what exactly is the "Donna Suite" about?

What are the songs lyrics about generally?

'Suite Per una Donna Assolutamente Relativa' ('Suite For An Absolutely Relative') is a concept album. It speaks of women and what they represent for us men. In general, the lyrics must be read in historical context, as they were written at a time of great social change. Herbert Pagani, clever lyricist, has written a suite (at the lyrics) that was a big protest for those years. Today, in my view, the lyrics are not aged good.

Generally 'Suite ...' is a great album. Pay much to Procol Harum... But as Procol Harum in those years in Italy was a cult band... All this (the musical context and style) is normal!

Thanks Assaf for the Yugen update!!

Thanks Mandi for the interpretation.  Sounds perhaps like the lyrics might be a bit sexist?

Really I do not know... I would say no. But given the historical period... That someone has thought?

Certainly if that use phrases like 'You are the flower that is called eternity because you have twenty years and a thousand centuries of life' or 'If the world remains a continent to save what I know today: Woman will you' it raises some doubts. What we must do is think that the feminist movement should not be like an album as' Suite...'!

But I must say that Viola Valentino has recorded an album in 1980 with the title of 'Cinema' where is included the song  'Comprami' ('You Buy Me') (already 1979 single) with this lyrics: 'You buy me, I am for sale...' that was almost censored because of the protests of the feminist movement.

Back from the dead. So here's something for discussion:

What do we all think and feel about Franco Battiato?
