From the Jordan Rudess forums:
"OK everyone.

You can be the first on your block to know the news about my new solo album.
I'm presently finishing up the keyboard tracks for it now.
After thats all done I will get the drums recorded followed by the guitar and vocals. Of course the bulk of the sounds will be generated by yours truly!

As far as the content of the music goes, this is the story:
I'm actually doing covers! I'm going back to some of my very favorite progressive rock songs and doing my own versions.
In addition I will throw in a very progressive new tune.
Here are some highlights for ya-

Tarkus - ELP
Dance On a Volcano - Genesis
Just the Same- Gentle Giant
Sound Chaser - YES

That's not all of it, but a lot of it!
Also gonna record my Steinway here at home and cover some other classics.
If you saw me open for Blackfield, you might have an idea of the flavor that I am talking about.

As far as the guests go, I am not ready to announce them.
Looks like things are lining up nicely though.
I will let you know when it is all set.

For the album cover, the great news is that it looks like David Mattingly (who did the cover of Feeding the Wheel) is lined up again.

The album will be released on Magna Carta Records.
I don't have a release date for you yet.
Soon I will announce the title....

That's all for now.

JR"

I for one am excited! I can't wait to hear his take on some prog classics, and the ones listed there should make for some very good listening - I'm especially looking foward to Sound Chaser.

Well, at least the track listing is very ambitious

If you thought ELP was pretentious before, wait until Jordan Rudess covers them.

^haha, yeah.

Well, as said, at least the tracklist is ambitious. When I clicked the link I was expecting to see some average, mediocre song choices like what I usually see on cover albums. I probably won't buy this, but it will be interesting to hear.

This could be interesting, I like a good re-interpretation of a song. I'm anxious to hear what he does to Dance on a Volcano in particular.

Those are certainly interesting song choices. I only have his earliest solo album, maybe I should look in to this one.
