A band that has done a lot and gotten little appreciation for it (at least here in the United States), Deadsoul Tribe has put out four albums. Upcoming later this year is a fifth studio album (as deadsoultribe.com's site host told me in an e-mail), so before that is released, I wanted to raise the question as to what the best was so far.

After all, the first DST album gave them an establishment; roots you can always trace their new sound from no matter how much they change their scene. A tad redundant, but who could forget "Powertrip," "The Haunted," and "The Drowning Machine" were great songs (oh, yeah, and "One Bullet").

A Murder of Crows put Tribe in a different direction; the album's production quality was better, the songs were darker, and it wasn't as hard to label prog as their first attempt. "Feed (Parts 1 & 2)" and "Angels in Vertigo" are magnificent pieces, but then so were "Some Things You Can't Return," and the peacefully out of place "Time." My personal favorite of their albums.

Their predecessor to the brilliant sophomore release, The January Tree, evolved the band even further; the drums were harder and the riffs were more soaring, and even has a tad Psychotic Waltz in it. The first track, "Why," and "Sirens" offer a lot to the album, and it flows very well also. "Toy Rockets" is probably my pick of the album.

Latest release The Dead Word, may have left more to be desired, but "I'm Not Waving" is a pretty wicked tune. Sorry guys, I haven't heard this whole album yet, so I have less to say about it....groovy?

Let's hear what the prog community has to say! Support DST! Buy one of their albums now! (Even though you can only backorder them from stores!)

Not a huge fan, but A Murder of Crows is their best.

I would like to see a Psychotic Waltz reunion though...

I voted for A Murder of Crows. Though, The January Tree is great!

A Murder of Crows... predictably enough... though DST and TJT are both good efforts...

not heard The Dead Word yet, possibly because the reviews don't seem to be gushing with praise..Ermm
Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson

"Screw" is a bit harsh, but I'm very much in favour of a PW reunion.
