It appears that Porcupine Tree are recording a session for BBC Radio that will be broadcast "next week"
 
 
In the "Coming Up" Section it says:

Next week: Porcupine Tree live in session.

Rumour suggests this:
 
Mon/Tuesday 16th/17th @ Midnight BBC Radio 1 Rock Show
Saturday 28th @ 21.00 BBC 6Music   
 
 
If anyone can confirm this it would be very much appreciated.Smile

Camden in-store appearance

This Monday 16th April (the day of release of the new PT album Fear of a Blank Planet) SW and John Wesley will be making an in-store appearance at Fopp Records in Camden, London to play a few songs unplugged, and to sign copies of the CD. It includes the entire soundtrack of the main disc, spread across 2 discs, running over 100 minutes. The exceptional quality of the audio mix has been particularly acclaimed, so this is a chance to get the soundtrack as mixed by Steven Wilson and mastered by Darcy Proper in uncompressed 16 bit FLAC or LAME encoded MP3. On 13th April Porcupine Tree recorded 5 tracks for the BBC at their Maida Vale Studios, including 3 tracks from the new album. These will be broadcast over the next week on the Radio One Rock Show (host Daniel P. Carter) and the Bruce Dickinson Rock Show on BBC 6 Music. Both broadcasts also include interviews.

Cool!!

Wonder what the two songs from previous albums will be?
 
I reckon "Sound Of Muzak" and "Open Car"
 
As much as I like it, playing Lazarus would be a mistake.

Just got back from the PT acoustic set/album launch thingy in Fopp Records in Camden. Healthy crowd of people, Steven Wilson in good form, confessing, as he sat at the keyboard, that he is not shy or being rude but is "such a bad piano player I have to look at the keys all time" before he and John Wesley (on acoustic guitar) launched into an acoustic set featuring a couple of tracks from the new album - Fear of a Blank Planet, My Ashes  and a set closer of Trains. Steven admitted that the record company had asked for the unplugged session for the new album and they had agreed and then realised what kind of album they'd made and how difficult it would be.
That was amply proved by a monumentally fluffed piano chord, which resulted in a very loud "oh f*******ck"  and chuckles from the audience before carrying on. Funny.
Like a sad fanboy (which at my age is riduculous) I went and got my special edition album signed. Oh the humanity!
Worth hanging Camden on a gloriously sunny afternoon for. Bonus was I nabbed a copy of Billy Cobham's Spectrum on vinyl too for a fiver. No idea if it's any good but it's one of those records you're supposed to have so - result!

I just listened to and recorded The BBC feed and all I can say is OH MY GOD! The session is hot! Especially blistering is Halo, the best version of this song that I've heard so far. I cant wait to listen and record the last two session tracks next week. I'll also be seeing the band in Los Angeles on May 12th.Thumbs%20Up

Saw PT in Glasgow at ABC last night - first night of UK tour - and in very fine form.  New stuff comes over much better live than on the disc I think so catch 'em if you get the chance.   Great to hear Lightbulb Sun played live too and of course Anesthetize went down a storm.

I have a bootleg of the Radio1 show, before its aired..

They play part of Anesthetize, Fear of a Blank planet, and Halo

Also at the start SW speaks a bit about the background of FOABP plus Gavin also speaks for a bit, not real interviews just speaking.. Its great though.

I just got back from Newcastle Carling Academy. Fantastic evening. Highlights for me were a stunning 'Even Less' and of course ' Lightbulb Sun'. The new material was fantastic too. 'Anesthetize' especially was just awesome. A great night indeed.

OK, I just saw this thread... I was also at the Glasgow gig AND (here's my claim to fame) I got to meet the band afterwards cause I stood outside their tour bus waiting for them and also, they all signed the new CD for me... Anyways, I reckon the best song they played that night was Blaskest Eyes.. Everybody was jumping!
