Such a chameleon...

...every face tells a different story...

...a man's man....

...a ladies man...

...thoughful...

...constipated...

Let's hear it for the quiet genius of neo-prog

The world is an unfair place!

Actually as someone who really doesn't like IQ... I've always been fond of the bassist... John Jowitt.

I hear he's a big name in industry and prog is more or less his hobby.

Threefates fond of a bassist - whatever next  !

Quote Not forgetting Paul Cook. After twenty years, IQ are going to have a NEW drummer???

The man felt it was time to move on. Don't worry, it's cool having the old guys around, but his seat won't be hard to fill. Anyone who's seen an IQ performance knows that. His playing's competent, not extraordinary. It doesn't make an album like Ever any less kickass, anyway.

Yeah he was the Ringo of prog to be sure but hey, I agree that the guy had his moments. I'll miss him as he contributed a lot to the character of IQ.

I can't see the point in a band like IQ applying more technical drumming to their music. Besides, listening to monster drummers, whether in prog or jazz, wears me out sooner or later, and Cook's sparse, precise and deceptively dynamic time-keeping is just the antidote. A fine drummer, my respect to him, he will be missed.

^ I agree Manunkind and hope they do get a drummer that respects the space and doesn't play thirty beats where one would do.

I like more his presence on stage.  I've seen him live with both IQ and Jadis.. and he tends to command the stage even more than the singers in both those bands.  Which is hard to do in Jadis seeing that Gary Chandler is so good looking....

Gary used to hand his guitar to members of the audience while he was removing jackets and the like between songs. I always thought that was a cool (if risky) thing to do.

I just bought the Jadis DVD View From Above and although not all their songs do it for me, I can see what you mean about Jowitt having a lot of stage presence 3F.
