I'm surprised the Groundhogs are not in the archives, if only as prog-related.

I have fond memories of "Split" and "Thank Christ for the bomb" but I have my doubts about them being prog-related. Weren't they primarily a blues-band?

Maybe so, but Hogwash comes pretty close to prog IMO.

Led Zeppelin, Jeff Beck, Santana, Bakerloo... Seems only obvious that they should be joined by the Groundhogs and Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac.

I would dearly love to see Tony McPhee's Groundhogs in PA, though they are primarily a blues-rock  group in all their various line-ups,  they could well be considered prog-related.  Listen to their synthesiser soaked  "Hogwash" album, or "Split" written in four movements on the theme of mental breakdown, could be an early form of Prog-metal.  Smile

Talking of The Groundhogs (as we are), about 20 years ago myself and the rest of my band went to spend the weekend in Wales with our new drummer. On the Saturday night he suggested we pop out to his local social club for a couple of beers as there was normally a band there on a Saturday. Much to our surprise, it turned out to be Mr McPhee and his Groundhogs that night! Very good they were too.
