Three years after Gathering Speed BIG BIG TRAIN's new release called The Difference Machine is on the way to be pressed. Release date is unknown yet.

The album is consisting of 7 tracks and was developed with the help of drummer Nick D'Virgilio (Spock's Beard) and Pete Trewavas (Marillion).

wow, they've made some strides, I remember when I got the last album and spoke the band, I thought it had good potential but needed work in the lyric/melody department. I'm anxious to hear what they've done.

Has any one got this yet and is willing to make a recommendation or review . I'm keen after hearing excerpts but would appreciate some guidance.
Looking still the same after all these years...

If anyone has their pre-order, can you give the rest of us some guidance on this one? The Progressive Ears review referred to on the blog/news chapter on the website is extremely complimentary........almost apologetically though, which is a bit of a worry.

I like the bands compliment with both strings and woodwinds on this one, not to mention some apparent contributions by D'Virgilio, Meros and Trewavas. The excerpts are also promising , but will this release as a whole live up to expectations.......

Anyone at all yet?

[Official release date is 17/9].

I received the promo from the band and as I have precious little time these days (and I have other promo's as well to review), it'll take some more time til this one is done, but so far it's pretty a decent album (mature, rich in sound) and one that needs (like many others) repeated listens with concentration.

Very informative review, Assaf Thumbs%20Up

listening to the excerpts I can say this release must be better than 'Gathering Speed' ...
