Reviews of their albums here: Skin Alley. by Keith "Muzikman" Hannaleck
There's about a hundred bands that i could suggest, but Skin Alley are pretty well known. Its a mystery thay aren't here already. As early as in '69, they released their undeniable (proto)prog debut. Quite advanced with great melodies and nice (quite Jim Morrison-like) vocals. More sophisticated and defined progrelease than Caravan, VdGG, Jethro Tull, Camel's etc. releases of the same year. Comparable to Cressida, Jethro Tull and Tonton Macoute, but also Soft Machine, Nucleus and early Canterbury. Plenty of jazzy flute, organ, mellotron. The two albums I got: Skin Alley: st '69 Skin Alley: To Pagham an Beyond '70. Both essential must haves. Add!! |

Yes, I heard a good track of theirs called 'Living In Sin' from an old CBS sampler called 'Fill Your Head With Rock'. I believe they housed Atomic Rooster's vocalist Nick Graham at some stage...that track was very much in the early Jethro Tull vein.
I thought they were here already actually. Been meaning to pick up these albums, plus there is a 2cd anthology on Sanctuary Records of their albums for Transatlantic as well.

You'll love them Salmacis.
BTW: Funny thing that when Skin Alley's debut was released, Jethro Tull hardly sounded like that themselves, yet. |

Skin Alley could easily be included, IMHO.
I think I once said otherwise, but I was mistaken with another band.

You probably mistook them for being the belgian psychobilly band: Sin Alley. |

No, most likely I think I mistook them for the horrible Babe Ruth
Apparently there's been no decision yet on this one, so I'll get on the case
