This is something totally fresh. Anybody heard of the Diablo Swing Orchestra? It's is quite literally an orchestra playing swinging metal tunes. I'd wonder whether any of you prog specialists would consider this as progressive music. I for one think its very experimental, hence progressive. Their website is www.diabloswing.com
There are some samples there.

Yeah, I heard about them a little while ago when someone was talking about them in the avant thread and some recommendations thread that I don't recall. They're very, very interesting, and I love those female vocals. I'm planning on buying their album from WaySide sometime soon because they are so cool. I also recommend Flat Earth Society which is in a slightly similar vein (they play big band progressive jazz with some RIO thrown in).
I can hear more metal on their Myspace songs, which have one more song (Poetic Pitbull Revolution is particularly metal, I think, but I don't completely remember).

I'd suggest them for the progarchives if it wasn't so late here. And I don't feel like looking up all the info and stuff.
Hmm... maybe tomorrow. Edited by Metalstrm - May 22 2007 at 21:14 |

Wow, I really like these guys!
I wish I would have heard about them earlier. I'm definately going to look into buying an album of theirs.

I'm disappointed - neither of these players are avant-garde! Al di Meola.
haha i know. but the poll itself is avant-garde
|

If Anyone is interested, they are playing 4th on the Saturday bill at Progpower UK III at Bristol Ansen Rooms, next March 28/29th......
check out the site... www.progpoweruk.com
I've never heard them personally, but am certainly intrigued. The Organisers like to go for something slightly different, part way thru the day; last year, 4th on the bill was Haggard...

Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson
