Topic: Morning Bell poll Posted: June 10 2007 at 09:27 |
A simple question: Which version of this superb Radiohead's song do you like more? Which is the best? Explain why

I like the rhythm and general atmosphere of Kid A's version more.

This is one of my less favorite songs from Kid A, the same from Amnesiac, but i prefer the Kid A one because its more "natural" sound, maybe the drums.

i like the version from Kid A better, probably because i heard that one first and the other one just never seemed right.

More "natural" sound? I don't think so. The Kid A version is driven mainly by a drum machine, while the other version is more guitar-oriented. Really, I think this song isn't natural in any of its two incarnations, but IMHO the second version is, first of all, more simple, and, because of that, more natural for me (if that's what you meant, of course).

Kid A, not only does it sound better, but it's also in a more complex meter, which I have an affinity for.

I like the Kid A one more, but I like the Amnesiac version almost as much. Some kid once said they can be played simultaneously and it matches up. Anyways, he was dumb.

I think the song works better as the quasi-ballad on Amnesiac. The Kid A version seems too self-consciously alt-techno for my tastes.

I'd rate them almost equally, with the Amnesiac version slightly ahead. I guess it just works better for me.

I prefer the more dreamlike quality of the Amnesiac version.
More importantly, is it true it's about a divorce ("cut the kids in half") and what is a morning bell?

It's quite controversial, mate....... Once I read that this song is about ghosts Anyway, I agree with your first point

Oh yeah, that site is crazy (if you're talking about the one that has the explanations for all the songs). I wavered between thinking this guy is crazy and is reading way too much into Thom's annoying nonsense lyrics, or wanting to hurt Thom for making understanding of the lyrics so astoundly obscure and random. I ended up with the latter since most of the explanations made a reasonable amount of sense, especially when augmented by interview quotes.

jaja...... yeah. However, this song has a special non-meaning. That's the main reason why we do love it
