Topic: HAPPYNESS IS A WARM GUN Posted: February 25 2005 at 10:52 |
Yeah, the song is the precursor to Bohemian Rhapsody, right? It starts off nice, goes nutty, seems to become good again, then gets a cheesy ending thayt brings you to tears, knowing that The Beatles actually meant it to be this way. Still, a great song, and my ll-time favourite Beatles song, along with While My GuitarGently Weeps and Within You, Without You

His warm gun meant his dick smoking after he shot his load.
Guitar Gently Weeps and I Me Mine are my personal fave.

Kind of poetic for something as brutal, vulgar, sub-human and utterly gross as sex.I wish i could be so good at euphemisms

All great songs and all among my very favorites as well.
I would add:
Oh! Darling;
She Came In Through The Bathroom Window (if I could only choose 1 from side 2 Abbey Rd);
I Am The Walrus (Spooky Tooth did a great cover of the Walrus).
Hard to choose just a few from The Fab Four.

A very strong Zappa influence on 'Happiness...' as well - the Fabs were massively impressed by FZ, and I believe Paul once referred to Sgt Pepper as 'Our Freak Out'.
I know that John and Ringo both worked with FZ at different times, but what about George and Paul? Over to you, Mr. Heath.

Happiness is a Warm Gun is up there in my top 10 Beatle songs. I love the constant changing in the tune.
Paul would try to repeat this formula in You Never Gave Me Your Money and Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey, but while good, they never reached the crazed greatness as Happiness.
