'Modern Masquerades' is a gem imo with some excellent orchestrations thanks to the input of Ian MacDonald [yes, that IM of KC and McD & G fame]. It's the only album after the departure of Stephen Houston but John Mason, I think, really adds some nice qualities on kbds [check out his jazz influenced and very tasteful solo on 'Sheba's Song']. 'Gormenghast' and 'Sheba's Song' are two of my most favourite songs ever on the mellower side of prog. On the whole it's a very strong album, despite the slightly incongruous 'Janet Planet' . All their albums have redeeming qualities and any prog fans should find them satisfying. An often maligned band attracting detractors who call them a Genesis influenced derivative band. I, for one, totally disagree - those who prescribe to that view I would most respectfully suggest, must be listening to them through their bum trumpets !! There's nothing wrong with Fruupp threads. They deserve some exposure. I must have missed the earlier ones.

Tooo tough a poll, because none of them stand out as particularly exciting.

let's just stay above the moral melee prefer the sink to the gutter keep our sand-castle virtues content to be a doer as well as a thinker, prefer lifting our pen rather than un-sheath our sword
