I'm expecting Home "The Alchemist" and QuickSand "Home is where I belong" to arrive in a few weeks.

Having not heard any of the music on these 2 albums, I was wondering if anyone can offer their opinions (good or bad) on either one or both of these albums.

thanks, ProgBaby

May I ask where they are coming from?

I remember listening to the record album of the ALCHEMIST in the 1970s and enjoying it greatly (so I expect you'll love it!) but the CD seems currently unavailable...

Never heard Quicksand, although it is on my long list of albums to get.
Home are not my favourite, but pretty good all the same. They have a kind of soft, west coast sound to them with twin guitars. Alchemist, is really a concept record. All the tracks are linked to give one continuous peice of music. There are some good moments, lots here for the average prog fan!

I won "The Alchemist" from an ebay auction so it's coming from Russia.    You're right in that it's out of print.

The QuickSand one was easy to find.   Amazon has a bunch of them.

progarchives has a * review and a ***** review of the Home cd.   Talk about a comparison/contrast deal  LOL

Check it out:

I heard some of 'The Alchemist' and it was quite good, guitar driven prog, imho. If I recall, it was sort of like a slightly proggier Wishbone Ash. Home's guitarist Laurie Wisefield ended up in Wishbone Ash though,so it's not so unsurprising...

I only heard the title track of 'Home Is Where I Belong'- Quicksand were a Welsh band, AFAIK.
