Seeing that suggested album list in that book on RPI I have gave me an idea.

What 25 albums best  show the  range.... and quality of the Italian prog.

3.   Le Orme - Uomo di Pezza
4.   Osanna - Palepoli
5.   Area - Crac

Well, I could''t make a list of 25, simply because I don't know 25 separate Italian prog bands. Try later to make a list.  Why isn't Semiramis on your list, you don't like it?

ahhahahha... isn't that the truth.  I build my expansive collection in my youth based on two creative premises...

1) I didn't bother with girlfriends....    the biggest drain on your  finances you will ever know. LOL I didn't get my drivers license till I was in college so I didn't even have to worry about that. So everything I made went went straight to Waxie Maxie's.

2)  Creative financial management....   for example when my parents when to Europe for 6 weeks when I was in H.S. they left me $500 emergency money.  So like any teenager....   I made the food that mom left in the house last for 6 weeks... and went on one HELL of a shopping spree hahhahhaa.  In the 80's that could go a long way LOL

Ah, Italian Progressive Rock! I wish I could get my hands on some of those albums. It's the lack of the material here in my place I'm afraid. Not a big fan of online stores.

if you are not going to go the online route probably not... .have you tried ordering through music stores?  We had a thread a couple of days ago that mentioned that.   That is how I got some of mine.  Even though they aren't on the shelves.... many music stores can special order directly from distributors for you

the key is to find a store that uses Japanese distributors.... the Japanese seem to love RPI and for many years they were the ones who kept those albums in print before the Italians got their act together and started reissuing them.

Excuse me because I chose more album for individual bands or album of contemporary bands (or produced today), obscure bands/ artists and Ivano Fossati.  Nevertheless these they are the 25 "Top RPI albums" that I have in head to today.

P.s.: special mention to:

Faveravola: "La Contea Dei cento Castagni"
Andrea Parodi e Al Di Meola: "Midsummer Night In Sardinia- Armentos"
Mario Fasciano & Rick Wakeman: "Black Knights At The Court Of Ferdinand IV"

That for varied reasons they cannot enter in the list.

good list Mandy... Aria and Celeston go in my expanded 30.

I must be one of the few that thinks Generazioni is a nice....but average album. Both you and Erik had it on your lists.
