Well a friend of mine sent me A Quick Fix, Perdition City, Blood Inside, plus a few various songs, so it's not as if I don't know anything by them. But yes, I agree.

Yes, it's always a good idea to buy latest additions from bands you're unfamiliar with to know what's going on at the current time. However, in many cases, the first (or amongst the earliest) albums are the ones your ears are missing badly. This is a case much more relevant to heavy music than prog though.

A Quick Fix Of Melancholy felt very classical inspired, let's hope this one is even more interesting.

Update

In an interview with Music Information Centre Norway, Ulver member Tore Ylwizaker commented on the forthcoming album. He said it would be downplayed and inspired by chamber music in both style and crew. Ylwizaker also took a year off to study classical composers and composition techniques, while claiming to take a particular liking to Igor Stravinsky's The Firebird
that should be interesting, I hope they do a complete 360 and blow us away, like when they dropped black metal in favor of strange electronic stuff.

I'm looking forward to this release. It is great to see experimentation like this or should I say progressiveness in rock music!Wink

Great news. I guess this and Kayo Dot's new album will be fighting for the best of 07 spot.

@ Ivan

the new Anekdoten i have mixed feelings for, I don't quite like it as much as Vemod, From Within, etc.

to be honest i really haven't checked into many '07 releases, ive been extremely busy as of late

Great news indeed. I'm not big of a fan of Blood Inside, but I do like what they're doing and I'll be looking for this release.

Oh Hell Yes!

I guess it will be along the same Electronic Post-Rocky lines as their last outputs? Not back to Black Metal Tongue

Well, I no longer visit MySpace, so I had no connection to this source. I came to PA looking for information about GY!BE (had to check something). and saw your thread. Now I finally have an album to look forward to this year and it hasn't been a good one for me.

What are the other albums you anticipate, Joey? I am guessing the new Kayo Dot, what else?

Taken from wikipedia:

In July 2007, Ulver announced on their website that they would be releasing a new album, Shadows of the Sun, on October 1, 2007. Garm calls it, "our most personal record to date. Low key, dark, and tragic."[3] Little else is known about the album.

Easily my most anticipated release for 2007, now I've got 3 mo's to wait.

UPDATE 7/26/07

In an interview with Music Information Centre Norway, Ulver member Tore Ylwizaker commented on the forthcoming album. He said it would be downplayed and inspired by chamber music in both style and crew. Ylwizaker also took a year off to study classical composers and composition techniques, while claiming to take a particular liking to Igor Stravinsky's The Firebird
