HI PROG FRIENDS, THIS IS CÉSAR INCA.

In August the band DON GATO, led by virtuoso veteran guitarist Antonio Esteban, will do a couple of gigs in Lima, Peru .-

Tuesday, August 14th

La Noche de Barranco

Avda. Bolognesi, block 3

10.00 PM

Ticket price: 10 soles

Opening band: LA BRUMA

Friday, August 17th

Centro Cultural de España

By Avda. Arenales, block 6

8.00 PM

Free entry

As indicated above, LA BRUMA will share stage with DON GATO for the La Noche gig. LA BRUMA is a melodic symphonic rock band that already has a CD in the market, “Tiempos de Agua”, where they deliver a heavily Frágil-influenced kind of prog rock. They also do covers of Yes, King Crimson, Frágil and Moody Blues. Let’s see what they’ll do that night… Three tracks from their album are downloaded at http://www.myspace.com/labrumarock

And what else can I say about DON GATO that I haven’t said before in previous messages. I really love their rich mixture of jazz-rock, fusion, progressive, bossanova and psychedelia. You can check part of their material at http://www.myspace.com/dongatoperu

By the way, I've got a bunch of tickets for the La Noche gig. This is not my business but an errand commended to me by LA BRUMA's keyboardist Carlos Gómez-Sánchez. 10 soles a ticket - in case you're interested, just PM me.

    Kind regards.

HI PROG FRIENDS, THIS IS CÉSAR INCA.

Last night's gig was very high-spirited and entertaining. Actually, it came to be that DON GATO and LA BRUMA exchanged places with the former becoming the opening act. Well, IMHO, LA BRUMA was good, powerful sound and interesting dynamics, but it was DON GATO, effectively led by virtuoso guitarist Antonio Esteban who owned the night. The band's power-trio format has achieved maturity: the sound feels properly full and the energy shared by all three musicians leads to an exciting amount of musical synergy.

Now, here's a reminder of DON GATO's next concert, on Friday.-

Probably because of the recent earthquake in the mid-coast of Peru. Lima has only been moderately affected, but a real disaster has happened in the province of Ica, not too far away from the capital.
