Having just bought the new Planet X cd Quantum I was mightily impressed.

It's my first purchase by this band so I was wondering, are the other albums of similar quality and worth getting ?

I don't know about Quantum, but I have Moonbabies and I really like it.

I'm a huge Planet X fan, first two albums mindblowing.. Universe markedly heavier than Moonbabies. I don't have the new one.. some of the samples on their site sounded a bit samey and much like Moonbabies but I'll still get it (and who can resist Holdsworth)

Well I agree with everything in this topic.
Quantum does sound a little recycled but since its your first cd I understand your position.
I'd get them all...they're great cd's.

Moonbabies. It's their masterpiece. Interlude in Milan is breathtaking. I didn't quite like Quantum and yes it does sound a bit recycled.

Similar thread on the subject  was started ~10 days ago. To repeat what I said there, I wasn't going to buy Quantum but one excellent jazz rock site on the web had a number of contributors raving over it, so I bought it and glad I did.  I have to say in my opinion on the album is the opposite to Majestic Mayhem. This is most interesting album yet, I would suggest ,because the majority of guest instrumentalists and Donati are jazz rock fusion players, and there is a fuller heavy jazz rock feel about this. I had felt the earlier albums were being recycled , these being musical heavy rock with the occasional jazz rock artist soloing. On Quantum Bret Garsed is excellent, although I would suggest if you have Allan Holdsworth guesting, that the other guitarist avoids sounding Holdsworthian. Jimmy Johnson, one of the Allan  Holdsworth Group's bass players is excellent with both the heavy rock and the more subtle jazz rock duties. And Virgil Donati provides some sinterlating drumwork. And least I forget the keyboards are comparatively restrained (and personally I feel a good thing). BTW  I suggest you also check out a somewhat different  jazz rock album exploring some new territories, in form of  Uncle Moes Space Ranch's Moe's Town - again Brett Garsed shines.
