I know exactly what you are saying! I  am just like you dude! Since the first time I saw Rush in  the 90's ( I didn't see them in earlier years because I was too young and broke Embarrassed)
I had notice that at every Rush concert concert I had been I am the only one freaking enjoying going wild with most of their tune specially their prog tunes. I remember at my the concert that one dude during Hemispheres (yeah Hemispheres. but only the first 5 or 7 minutes of the masterpiece) asked me to sit down. I because I was blocking him. So I turn around and say " f**k! Man I didn't come to f**king sit  down this Is f**king RUSH that is playing!" This is a Rock concert not a symphony concert  or an opera" then when just like you when The started playing Limelight and Tom Sawyer  every one got their sit.I was shock! of many fake Fans...Angry

I`ve seen Rush about six times since `78 and it`s usually a more mature well behaved crowd even back on the 2112 tour.I don`t go as crazy as I used to ( I`m 47 ) at any concert but I like to see the kids go nuts. So these days the concerts I do go to I get to watch the band and the kids go nuts.
I was at the Black Sabbath Heaven & Hell concert in Montréal last year and it was roughly old geezers and kids which made it more interesting.

Alright guys, it has been almost 4 months without a post within this thread.  The other band appreciation threads are teeming with activity, where as the Rush army is slacking.  What is up folks?  Where is the love?  And i don't mean the umpteen hundred new Rush polls that have been started since the last post in this thread.  Hehehe.  My strange way of saying "bump".

Yes let's go on this Rush talk. Do you think Rush can still be active when Neil Peart turn 60 years old? He had said himself in a interview, that he doesn't see himself playing drums at 60. Could it be the last years of Rush?Cry

With his wife being pregnant, he is going to have to play into his late 70's or 80's to afford to send the kid through college, etc.... Wink  Hard to say though, with Bill Bruford recently announcing his retirement from touring, who knows how far behind Rush are.  Rumor is that we will be getting at least one more new album, so maybe one more new tour, and if those go well, then maybe, just maybe, they will continue until they just can't no more.  Buddy Rich was 70 when he passed away, and I'm pretty sure he was still playing up until the end.

It is really hard to say.  I can't imagine spending all of those years on the road away from my home and my family.  With Neil having a new lease on life with a new wife and a new child on the way, he may not want to miss out on what he missed out on with his first family.  On the other hand, choosing between poopy diapers and 2 O'Clock in the morning feedings, and playing the drums in front of thousands of adoring fans every night, I'd probably choose the latter.

Yes, it's the more probable thing that will happen. Maybe Rush will still continue without Neil. We never know!

I have had the same experience at two of their concerts during the last tour in St. Paul, MN and Milwaukee. I blame Guitar Hero for including YYZ.

However, it doesn't help that the band also played NINE SONGS from Snakes & Arrows. Ridiculous. I was bored with the rest of the crowd.

My first experience of Rush in the 80's (Hold Your Fire) was completely different to that.. As I took my seat in Wembley arena, I was trembling with excitement. I was 18, and this was a dream come true!! They opened with Big Money and everyone was on their feet, and stayed that way for the rest of the night. In fact I was surrounded by some very 'passionate' and quite rowdy fans. One guy kicked a paper plate of tortilla chips into the air when YYZ struck up, showering us with his dinner Lord, even the ladies (the Rushettes) were out in force that night, dancing in the aisles. During Closer to the Heart I even saw one of the Wembley stewards, in his flouresent orange tunic, singing along and wiping a tear from his eye. I kid you not. It was quite a night.

Things change, I guess, and different places draw different crowds. When I saw them again, this century, the crowd were inevitably older (in most cases) and things were a little calmer, but hey I wasn't told off for standing up!! That's ridiculous. If people want to sit down, a heavy rock concert is not the place to be.

Anthem Entertainment has announced the release of "WORKING MEN," the first 'best of' live performance compilation from renowned rock trio Rush. Due in stores and online November 17th, the collection will be released on DVD in partnership with Rounder and on CD via Atlantic Records outside of Canada.

Culled from Anthem Entertainment and Zö Vision's three other Rush DVD releases - Rush in Rio, R30 & Snakes & Arrows Live - "WORKING MEN" features live recordings of the band's greatest hits as well as one previously unreleased track , "One Little Victory" (see attached track listing).

Rush - Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson, and Neil Peart - is without question one of the most inventive and compelling groups in rock history, equally famed for both its virtuoso musicianship and provocative songwriting. Just last year, a career-chronicling Rolling Stone feature praised the band for its continuing artistic vitality, noting that "It's true that Rush doesn't mean today what it did in '76 or even '96. It may mean more." The sentiment was echoed in subsequent pieces published earlier this year in Entertainment Weekly and Spin. Rush's enduring pop culture relevance is perhaps best evidenced by a pair of high profile appearances - a rare national television performance and interview on Comedy Central's "The Colbert Report" in 2008 (the band's first TV appearance since 1975), and a pivotal role in the storyline of the hit comedy, I Love You, Man. Released this past spring, the band also made a memorable cameo in the film, which starred Paul Rudd and Jason Segal.

Since releasing their self-titled debut album in 1974, Rush has achieved worldwide sales exceeding 35 million units, including such acclaimed works as 1976's "2112," 1981's "MOVING PICTURES," 1996's "TEST FOR ECHO," and 2002's "VAPOR TRAILS."
