you obviously did. ![]() my post was a rant and i appreciate DM's response. it's hard to explain opinions clearly on the internet forums. my writing may have been reactionary, but i stick with my points. it's just a fascinating subjuect to me how production values have changed over the decades and how, time after time, bands are oblivious. some noteworthy exceptions are Wilco and Neil Young. ANYWAY-I'm still psyched for this record. the songs seem like they are going to be good. with that, i can get past production.

Sorry, my bad. I forget, today's generation has the attention span of a Kim Kardashian tweet. Perhaps I should have replied to you: U R so kewl. Dino-Man Zuma is so old skewl. New RUSH rox. LOL! But this is pretty cool: http://www.billboard.com/news/geddy-lee-talks-rush-legacy-moving-pictures-1005608552.story#/news/geddy-lee-talks-rush-legacy-moving-pictures-1005608552.story Geddy talks about playing the complete Hemispheres album one day, perhaps.... ""you can tuck a 45-minute album in there and still play lots of new things and lots of other things. If we were really out of our minds, we would attempt something like [1978's] "Hemispheres." If Rush has a cult following, within that cult following there's a following for "Hemispheres" [laughs]." Also Alex talks possible future 5.1 RUSH remixes: http://www.metalexpressradio.com/menu.php?main=interviews&id=991 He says that Permanent Waves multi-tracks are missing and so are parts of the 2112 record, but he doesn't mention that Hemispheres is missing. Which is a good sign. ![]() P.S. Did you check out The Flower Kings - The Chicken Farmer Song yet? To the group: Sorry, I don't seem to be able to talk about RUSH and not mention, defend or promote RUSH - Hemispheres. |

Sorry for a late reply. Yeah, I did see it when I was them live in Toronto. It was hilarious, especially Lerxst's character - the overweight German. I share that kind of goofy humour style with the guys and those Rash shirts, man. ![]() |

I like Rush, but I haven't seriously been considering seeing them in concert in the future. But I'd change my mind if they were seriously going to play Hemispheres!
Did see them on the Presto tour. So long ago, don't remember much about it. (My memory is pretty bad; yes I know some of you remember concerts from the 70s!) They played "2112" (the song; or at least parts of it), which was cool.

Yeah, if the guys played all of Hemispheres in one run, that would be amazing. That, and Permanent Waves would be awesome. I mean, when's the last time they really played Jacob's Ladder and Natural Science?

If you guys have not already seen this, it's a great live version. I don't have the DVD, but all the stuff is up on youtube. Ged's voice is a bit suffering, but he still rocks that bass. Honestly, these guys are playing better now then they ever have.

It's a good record, continuing the late career renaissance indicated by Snakes And Ladders. It's not incredibly fantastic but it sounds good and once again, Rush show how capable they are of sounding modern. They've always had an easier time of "fitting in" with modern expectations of sound (without sounding too uncomfortable or forced) than almost all of their prog peers and that's no different here. Some really good tracks like the title one and The Garden. Fans should feel totally confident about picking it up, though newcomers to Rush should probably go back to the classics like A Farewell To Kings and Permanent Waves. Clockwork Angels is good enough and no embarrassment, but it's not a monster, little too straightforward for that.

It looks awesome! I am listening to a borrowed CD now and so far very impressed with: Clockwork Angels (7:31) The Anarchist (6:52) Carnies (4:52) Seven Cities of Gold I need to hear it a few more times to give any review of tracks. One thing for sure is my initial reaction is its better than Snakes and Arrows and the last few albums! |

Wow I just finished my first listen of the whole album. I love Counterparts too! My opinion is every album following was a step down in the quality and consistency of great tracks - you would get some excellent tracks of course but the rest would disappoint. Snakes and Arrows grew on me eventually and I think its excellent but the songs on Clockwork Angels immediately grab me and thats a good sign. I would rate it at least 4 stars but maybe more as the songs hook into my brain,\\ After its over I can only remember 2 songs but they are Caravan and Headlong Flight proving it takes time to let the music sink in. I do like The Garden, Wish Them Well and The Wreckers also as well as the first 5 tracks so there is not really a bad song on it. Its a relief really as this could have flopped but it definitely won't as there is consistent quality and depth in the lyrics. I have to sit down and go over the lyrics now as I dont actually get the concept yet....

I really love the segways in a couple of the songs, gives it more of that concept album feel. Headlong Flight makes more sense to me hearing it on the album.
I also have the vinyl ordered.....That might give more of that concept feel too.
This album definately as a whole has some experimental quality to it......BU2B2....interesting, like what they are doing there.

^^^ Yeah its not easy to wait. I couldn't as we get the mag pack about a month from now.
Okay I love the album - heard it twice but still need a few more listens to really understand it.... what is it all about? You promise every treasure, to the foolish and the wise Goddesses of mystery, spirits in disguise Every pleasure, we bow and close our eyes Clockwork angels, promise every prize Clockwork angels, spread their arms and sing Synchronized and graceful, they move like living things Goddesses of Light, of Sea and Sky and Land Clockwork angels, the people raise their hands - As if to fly Edited by AtomicCrimsonRush - June 11 2012 at 03:37 |
