Personally, I think 3 might be best. It has some of my favorite characters. I'm going only on memory, though, because I haven't played it in like 10 years. All of them are awesome, though, and I'm thinking about buying a new Genesis to play them.

I vote 3.

They are all similar but 3 has more characters so it wins.

RIP in bossa nova heaven.

Mortal Combat wasn't exactly a great game as a whole, but 2 certainly was. It had a great selection of characters but not to the point of later versions where new characters were added who were nothing more than copies of already existing characters with a few changes.

Hmmmm... you're missing Mortal Kombat 3 Ultimate and Mortal Kombat Trilogy, which naturally are the best ones for me, because of the big variety and large amount of characters (specially in Trilogy). I recently bought the Trilogy version to Playstation, and remembered how good it was! And, yeah, the Ultimate is absolutely awesome!

Anyway, any MK 2-D game is far better than their 3-D, starting from the 4th version...

please... there's no competition here... 1 kind of sucked in terms of gameplay but it was a novelty piece... 3 had no personality... the only very good one that almost managed tro steal some thunder out of the real masterpiece that are (were) the Street Fighter II series was Mortal Kombat 2... And I pwned with Mileena, b*****ds! Tongue
