Yeah, but nobody is actually fluent in it.

Yeah, but nobody is actually fluent in it.

I can only imagine what your family reunions would be like. Or even your home land's political debates.

It gets pretty awkward.  Especially in Kobaian class (rough equivalent of English class), where NOBODY knows their vocabulary words, not even the teacher.

Norwegian(mother tongue)
English(fluently)
Swedish(can read it just about perfectly, and speak it fairly well)
Danish(can read it perfectly well, and I can speak it to a very small degree. Danish, to me, seems like (southern) norwegian spoken by a person with a potato in his throat and a somewhat german accent)
German(can read it quite well, speak it somewhat well, but talking with native germans... that's another thing)
The scattered jigsaw of my redemption laid out before my eyes
Each piece as amorphous as the other - Each piece in its lack of shape a lie

A german friend once described English as like speaking with a hot potato in your mouth.
What?

Would you like to watch TV, or get between the sheets, or contemplate the silent freeway, would you like something to eat?

Swedish is my mother tongue, and I also speak English (fluently, dare I say). I learned French in school for a couple of years, though I don't speak it very well. I'm considering moving to France to improve it. I also had German in school for two years, though I have lost most of what I learned back then. I can understand written and spoken Norweigan very well, and I can also understand written Danish.

I did learn Ancient Greek for five years in high school. Of course I can't speak it, and nowadays I have forgotten almost everything about it, but it was very interesting and very useful for my subsequent language studies.

Dutch (my mother tongue)
English (quite good)
German (rather good)
French (could be worse)
...

That's all, really. Embarrassed

Oh, I can translate four other, ancient, languages, at least when they are when written down: Latin, Greek, Hebrew and Aramaic  Approve , but that doesn't really count, does it  Ermm ?

Languages I would like to learn: Italian (the most beautiful language in the world, even e pericoloso sporghersi is poetry in my ears), Spanish, and I even dream of speaking Chinese and Russian.  Well, maybe, some day...

Well, translation from Hebrew is not that difficult (personal experience), but Aramaic... incredible!
