I only have Be and Mimi's Magic Moment. I need to get into Be a bit more, but at this point it's failed to hit it's mark with me. Mimi's Magic Moment is MUCH better.

I'll second that, very good album, as is Not Everybodys Gold.

In my opinion this band has grown with every album they have released. Their three first efforts are mainly AOR, melodic hard rock if you want, with some prog influences, but nothing special. The three following ones (The Robbery Of Murder, Not Everybodys Gold, Be) are very interesting albums, full of talent. Mimi's Magic Moments is their masterpiece. Great melodies, arrangements, some vocals by Neal Morse, long but entertaining songs...

I like Mimi's Magic Moment but with reservations.  My review says it all.

"The robbery of murder"  is one of the most emotionally moving prog Cd's I have ever heard. Salem Hill were surely on top of their game when they came up with the concept and music for this CD.  To be honest I am almost moved to tears when listening to this CD  I recommend you give it a try, it's very thought provoking and has many brilliant parts. We all have experienced on some level great or small at some point in our lives  what this concept is about,  injustice, anger, angst , the feeling of being wronged by a system or individual this CD illustrates by its main character how if those feelings are left untreated what they can "possibly"  turn into  ... interesting a little disturbing  , beautiful, a tad dark   ..  give it 4 plays and expect to be blown away.

Salem Hill do have a Christian influence though at no point in this CD do they openly display it,  but from my understanding of Christianity what this CD is trying to convey is that hate and bitterness is  a double sided blade, ultimately no matter how disgusting the crime against you is, or damaging it is you have no choice but to forgive and lay down your feelings of outrage with God or whatever spiritual refuge you "believe" in  to heal ...  or you could become part of the problem.

anyway thats my take on it I`m sure we all have a differant meaning,  either way its a GEM of a CD  Big%20smile

Not Everybody's Gold was my first Salem Hill album and it's still my favourite. The Robbery of Murder and Be are also very good.

Although Mimi's Magic Moment is highly rated by a lot of people I find it a bit patchy.

Hi!

I've got 4 studio albums bye Salem Hill.

For me, it sounds  between  Kansas,  Yes  and Genesis.
The problem with that band is the facts that the drumming sounds are not very good (may be they should ask producers like Rich Mouser or Gabriel Moffat to improve that point), and sometimes I have the impression that a child is playing keyboards, you know on Bontempi keyboards.

My top albums:
The Robbery Of Murder,
Not Everybody's Gold,
Be (without violon),
Mimi's Magic Moment.
