I'm pretty inexperienced with the instruments but I managed to play with my limits and come up with a pretty crazy prog song. It's very 'epic' in sound after the calm intro and I think I did a good job.
The other 4 songs there have ridiculous titles related to my part-time job. The real names are "Harto", "Crime vs Crime", "Death of Zitro" and "A Tribute to Ale". myspace.com/hernysmusica I should say that a part is heavily influenced by Iron Maiden's "Seventh son of a Seventh son" Any comments? A place where I might edit is the guitar improv in minute 5... so that I could plan out the soloing. _Part 1 : 0:00 - 2:41 : Acoustic oriented section with nice melodies. _Part 2 : 2:41 - 3:34 : My favorite part. a cool melody and chord progressions in 11/8 building up into an extremely intense rocker with electric guitars and synthesizers. _Part 3 : 3:34 - 5:13 : Iron Maiden influenced suspense music with intense funeral-style refrains. _Part 4 : 5:13 - 6:20 : a very soft background music with an improvisational echoed guitar leading to the main theme of Part 1 with different arrangements _Part 5 : 6:20 - 7:35 : Dark Piano in 15/8 transforming into chaotic horror music with a bit of avant-garde. Hey that was a great song!
Great musicianship man, I love all the orchestration. It was very mellow and I could almost see a story in it. It never got too complex or ridiculous for any reason which I like. Overall I really enjoyed it. Keep up the good work I look forward to your next composition.

oh man, musicianship is the last thing I should be commented on. If you play keyboards for 1-2 years and guitar for 6-9 months ... you can play this easily. (I suck at playing instruments)
Thanks, but It's most likely to be my last song. I got tired of playing instruments, it's not my thing anymore. This is my farewell song "End on a High Note" Edited by Zitro - September 16 2007 at 16:21 |

Pretty good and spooky stuff.
I like the electric guitar sound in end of part two (or is it in the beginning of part 3?) which reminds me of some old Alrune Rod.

Hey thanks. I actually take back what I said and I might follow up this (now called "Growing Up pt1" with another proggy "pt2" whenever I feel like it and had all the ideas ready. Maybe remake 2 songs and have an imaginary album.
I put up a song with female vocals from a friend "One Last Dream". My performance is a bit uninspired, but with the help of the friend who co-wrote this, sang, and played flute, it ended up being a cool psychotic song with her taking over in the climax and just doing amazing spooky s*** with her voice there. |

I actually take that back. What was supposed to be a release of negative feelings ended up being something pretty decent. It's the track that automatically plays in myspace. It's a dark symphonic ballad maybe a bit influenced by opeth and Flower Kings' "trading my soul" about someone lonely who wants attention and ends up doing something crazy/tragic to achieve it. I might also work on other songs later and a follow up to the one I posted in the initial post. |

I did part 2 of the song I posted in the original post. Just go to the link, go on the upper right window and look for "growing up 2 demo"
myspace.com/hernysmusica It's a bit more bizarre maybe as the first 3 minutes is more symphonic classical with some salsa-like piano parts and leads into what I call music for ADD as it can't stop changing in unpredictable directions every 15-30 seconds while visiting a few themes of growing up1. The church organ climax and the last revisit of the main melody is missing an electric guitar solo. and I have 3 other new songs, mostly from last week. So I guess there are rare moments when I actually like to play the keyboards. Edited by Zitro - December 29 2007 at 10:49 |
