The fabulous album Anabelas from the Argentinian band BUBU is available for 11$ at Wayside and Laser's Edge
Don't hesitate, this is a fantastic album, a fabulous combination of symphonic rock and a tinge of avant/experimentalism thrown in for good measure.

Just read the review here in PA (the link to the album page is above) and read why you should get it (especially for this price).

I see that a similar band from South America has had their debut album re-issued - Alas.  Is this worth getting too? I've never heard of it before this week.

Yes indeed!! But don't expect something similar or near Anabelas. Alas' debut album is an example of how an Argentine prog band can naturally embrace the influences from Return to Forever and ELP while translating them into the realms of tango-fusion... in the context of a keyboard-based power trio!! IMHO, it is very worth getting, a real 70s prog masterpiece from South America. Besides the two epics of the album, the CD will surely include two bonus tracks, a fusinoesque instrumental called 'Aire' and a delicate, subtly tango-instilled ballad called 'Rincón, Mi Pequeño Rincón'.

    Kind regards.

^^thanks a lot, actually it sounds even better than Bubu from what you describe.  I'll definately go for Alas once my prog-funds recharge; the jury is still out on Anabelas - I've listened to the samples they've generously put on myspace:  http://www.myspace.com/bubuprog
enjoy

Yes, here I get it for 15 pesos. At last, it used to be for 78... does that make any sense? An argentinian album costs just as much as an imported one... well, actually it was... man, thats just wrong... but now its all gooooood, I will buy it, even though I already have it!
