Threshold are one of my favourite Prog Metal bands. Like so many bands in the Prog area they have struggled for years and never had the success they deserve and have released some excellent albums.

My own personal favourite is Hypothetical. For me, on this release they seem to have just about got the balance right between heavy yet tuneful riffs and their more Proggy elements,

So what's your favourite?

Critical Mass and Subsurface are fine albums and i like to listen them often but  Dead Reckoning have that long song that i adore and i cast my vote for him !
Again, like in the other polls  it is the first one in the poll ! It is the curse of the 1 !LOL

Hard to choose between Hypothetical and Dead Reckoning for me but I chose Hypothetical which made me a Threshold fan.

I only have Subsurface and Dead Reckoning on CD. Threshold's music did not do much for me. They sound unnatural/plastic. I don't know, maybe it's just me, or maybe I should give both albums some more spins. Good band though.

Give Hypothetical a try, Narcissus is a fantastic song.

Subsurface is my absolute favorite, followed by Critical Mass. However, I've actually voted for Dead Reckoning in this poll because it is slowly growing on me and I feel will one day surpass those two.
What?

Hypothetical is my favorite - "Narcissus" is probably my favorite Threshold song.

And what about the track "Light and Space" from Hypotetical? I think it's one the best Threshold tracks ever, it's very good, IMO.

Hypothetical. Unfortunately none of their other albums that I've heard come close.

I love all albums with Mac, and the one I keep coming back to is Critical Mass.
Tough call though, as Clone, Hypothetical, Subsurface and Dead Reckoning are all great albums.

well threshold's latest "Dead Reckoning" is the best for me... they are more heavier than any other of their albums... the production is great too... i think threshold keeps getting better and better in every release... this makes Surface and Critical Mass my next choices.

Psychadelicatessen...Clap

I have all but the first.. so let me vote:

PSYCHEDELICATESSEN - borders on bad, Lynn's voice borders on atrocity StarStar
EXTINCT INSTINCT - some great songs ("unicorn") plus Wilson... good. StarStarStar
CLONE - overrated decent album... not enough memorable melodies or anything StarStarStar
HYPOTHETICAL - The 'Hold's  best... perfect... superb choruses, melodies, structures... everyhting on target..StarStarStarStarStar
CRITICAL MASS - Like Clone, good but not memorable... StarStarStar1/2
SUBSURFACE - Almost like Hypothetical, almost perfect... great songs StarStarStarStar1/2
DEAD RECKONING - it grows with each listen.. some good songs with some boring ones... the epics, which used to be the band's best songs, now are the weakest ones...StarStarStar1/2

Really? I've only heard the full version of Pilot in the Sky of Dreams live with Wilson on vocals, and it was fantastic.

yes... I mena, they're not bad, but not in the level of Narcissus or The Ravages of Time or The Art of Reason or Unicorn.... they lack the tension-building, the climatic choruses, the melodies...for me, that is...Smile

I have to be honest....your comments surprise me greatly.... I LOVE Clone.... bought it as soon as it was released back in 1998, and have possibly listened to it more times than any CD in my collection over the last decade.....

....for me, Clone is their MOST melodic album....Freaks, Angels, Latent gene, Goodbye Mother Earth, Sunrise On Earth...all melodic as hell!!!  A solid 4.5/5 album in my oppinion, and slightly better than Hypothetical (4/5)
