I feel like these guys are terribly overlooked here. Beginning from the very fisrt EPs they were unique, and any comparisons weren't valid. With release of "Effloresce" they've brought new ideas in Psychedelic music - would anyone believe that band with CAN, CARDIACS and BLACK SABBATH among influences could go wrong!!! And they didn't! Amazing "Everyone into Position" has shown us another side of OCEANSIZE - they are composers, and one hell of composers!!! Unusual chord progressions and extraordinary harmonies, but this creates catchy melodies, earworming your mind for ages! And now "Frames" is finally released (I'm preparing the huge and thoughful review ), and I think OCEANSIZE must get some more attention here. They're equal to TOOL and PORCUPINE TREE in my book, in terms of both songwriting quality and groundbreaking approach. I hope ther time is gonna come and they'll get what they truly deserve. Long live Nu Prog!!!

I couldn't agree more. I purchased their first two albums in the summer on the basis of a recommendation that if I liked Porcupine Tree then I would quite like Oceansize. Now I can't get enough of them. Just purchased Frames at the weekend and have been playing it virtually continuously since.

One of my recent discoveries. I'm falling in love with their music recently and enjoying much of their albums. Amputee is one of my favorite songs from them. Hep hep hoorah Winkfor Oceansize.

They're a band I really like, among my favorites.  Everyone into Position is an excellent album, and Effloresce is very good.  Even they're EP, Music for Nurses is really good!

My copy of Frames has been shipped to my house.  I'm looking forward to listening to it this weekend! (Hopefully!)

Lately I can't get enough of them either. They're extremely unique, combining elements of many styles and artists including Porcupine Tree, King Crimson, Tool, Radiohead, and Pink Floyd. They have psychedelic elements but also metal and post-rock with undeniably prog structures. A great deal of their songs have odd time signatures and syncopation, but are incredibly accessible and catchy. I find bands able to do that really remarkable.

Props for Oceansize.

One of the few remaining bands which IMO only released brilliant albums (and has a discography with more than 2 albums).Clap

I failed to find a single 4/4 signature on Frames actually (except for "Red Rag to A Bear", which is an outtake...but awesome!!!)

I decided to check out this band and Wow just Wow!!  Now the problem is where do I find their albums.  They are fantastic - they remind me alot of Muse but are way better than Muse (like the vocals better).

They're my favourite band at the moment, and though unknown in Denmark, they're playing here in Copenhagen the 23th October, can't wait. Just got Frames through my mailbox, and after the first listening it sounds really promising.

All you need is desire to get them, some patience and some money. I managed to get them in Ukraine - now try to persuade me you won't find them in USA!!!

"Music for Nurses" is almost brilliant, a transition phase between heavy and psychy debut and my fave melodic "...Position" album. All songs are classy (if any of them would have been on "Effloresce", it would become a serious "...Position" rival in my book!).

"Amputee" has a wonderful "Ebb" trip, but this is mostly fans' stuff. Same goes almost for every other EP of them, some unreleased songs here and there ("Size of An Ocean", "A Very still movement", etc), but none from them is that genius as "Red Rag to a Bear" (best OCEANSIZE outtake ever!!!).

BTW, has anyone heard the "Dirty sweet smell of summer" song?

There's actually 3 studio albums, so the next thing you should buy is their first album, Effloresce.

If you still want more after that, the best ep is definitely Music For Nurses
