I was just browsing some french prog on the net, and found out this band was not on the archives :Emeraude, I know they released at least one album, one called Geoffroy. Apparently they sound a bit neo prog. Anyway I'm sure Seantrane knows of them.

Not neo-prog at all. Their 1981 album Geoffroy is a great show of french symphonic, with a strong folkish component sometimes, and a spacey feel throughout. I remember mentioning them a few months back, but never got around to suggest them for admission - mostly because I couldn't find any info on the band itself (only about that one album) and because I really don't where they would fit... In what category can one put Space-Folk?  
 
I came across this piece of info on french rock of the 80's:
 
Despite the flood of recordings, French progressive-rock was mostly derivative of the masters of the 1970s. Representative albums of the new generation were the three classics of 1981, which is Terpandre's Terpandre (1981), Dun's Eros (1981) and Emeraude's Geoffroy (1981)

If you think they may be Symphonic, contact a member of the Symph team (Andu should be online now), and send them some samples so that they can evaluate the band. It's the quickest way to go, believe me... Not everybody visits this section as often as I do, and even I am guilty of not looking at every suggestion thread.

I wonder if any of our members has the Musea CD. Those usually come with the story of the band, something that really can't be found on the internet.
 
After some webcheology I believe I found a way of contacting two possible members of the band, but I wonder if I write them to ask for info they will ignore or tell me to bugger off and buy the album... They're french, after all... Ouch

After a couple e-mails, I met two members who seem quite excited that their old group is being re-discovered, and are contribuiting with some excellent biographic material. If the symphonic team accept them, it shouldn't be long until we give them their space in the Archives. Big%20smile
 
I really have to brush up on my French, though...  Embarrassed

Agree with the opinion of HT and Andu, not Sym´phonic, I believe they are Psyche/Space Rock, very influenced by Pink Floyd.

There is a majority in the Symphonic Team for submitting Emeraude further to Space Rock, so shall it be. My personal opinion is that they might also fit Eclectic (Kotro has some good details about the band's various musical preferences), so later today's I'll start an open discussion with the two teams. This doesn't mean Emeraude won't get added... they're an excellent prog band and will make a great addition to the site Clap

We'll definitely look at them, and possibly add them if the other teams reject them. No 100% prog band should slip through the cracks because a 'perfect fit' cannot be found.

Crossed my mind, too, but it's not that simple. Only the two acoustic pieces and a bit of Viking and Geoffroy remind me of folk, moslty to the medieval sounding acoustics - the rest is clear space-rock to my ears. Space-rock was also the genre the band identified with the most, hence the failed proposal to get them in there. Crossover Prog was admitedly a temporary location before a better on could be found.
 
Plus, if I recall, they were passed on to Prog-Folk by the Psych/Space team, but don't know what happened there...
