CASSIBER

I want your opinions about this.

I have A Face We All Know  which I think highly of, I love it's complexity, oddity, collages and experimetalizations.

Would you recommend that I listen to any of the other albums as well? Are they up to par with this one?

Aside from that, what do you think of the music?

Thanks

Ah, You always display such exquisite taste my dear Assaf..Your words sum their wonder perfectly...they can often typify the magic that is RIO for me..
Aaanyway, Man or Monkey is my favorite, it's their first and rather raw, but it has an edge which I find particularly succulent, as it were.. Beauty and the Beast [their 2nd] is favored as their best by many though [including my beaux] - it's my 2nd fave. Some say their 3rd is best, Perfect Worlds. I can send you samples from all 3 this weekend if you like. A Face... is usually ranked lowest on the scale of their works, so you just may have a lot to look forward to my friend - [

ps: I have not listened comparatively in a while, so my rankings may be out of date w/ my present tastes though..]

I will also send some Cassix which Geck0 asked about a few weeks ago -

Goodnight all -

Cleo

I like Cassiber a lot, although the list of Chris Cutler bands and projects I don't like is vanishingly small Wink.

Anyway, for me they peaked with Beauty and the Beast, not least for their magnificent version of Chic's At Last I Am Free (also covered by Robert Wyatt, who knows a good tune when he hears one).

The Cassix tracks (about half an album's worth) can be found on one of the ReR quarterly compilations.
'Like so many of you
I've got my doubts about how much to contribute
to the already rich among us...'

Robert Wyatt, Gloria Gloom

I have heart the first two Cassiber albums Man and Monkey and Beauty and the Beast and they're great!  That Chic cover makes me giggle too.  I've not heard the Wyatt version though.

I'm actually surprised I've heard something Assaf hasn't!

I need to give those first two a further listen, because I can give you a proper assessment.  Like Chris though, it's rare to find a Cutler (or Frith) project that's disappointing.

On a side-note, is the music journalist surnamed Frith (I forget his forename) any relation to Fred?

No, not yet.

Thanks a lot though!!! Big%20smile

I'll buy those anyway (the first will be Man Or Monkey), I'm a sucker for CD's (or LP's).... I love the touch and smell of it with preferably some nice booklet with info...
