TRIODE - On N'a Pas Fini D'avoir Tout Vu
Great album, not often mentioned, featuring flute playing (which to many brings to mind Jethro Tull, also in the style played), but this gem is not to be dismissed! Here's Hugues bio: Very little is known about this band that had a short lifetime but managed to record one sole album on a very collectable Futura Red label. This album is instrumental rock sounding very familiar because it is loaded with flute. The music is very lively and holds your attention throughout and one gets rewarded by the cover of Come Together of Fab Four fame also instrumental. Michel Edelin is the piper that evidently studied Ian ANDERSON of JETHRO TULL and plays almost as well as the master. Apparently, a few of these musicians will record in Chérèze in the late 70's but little else seems to be known for all those years in between. : : : Hugues Chantraine : : And the reviews:

If DalasBryan was here, he would have posted how he thinks this album (along with others from France, namely Travelling - see my other thread) is one of the highlights from France's rock-progressif.

Yes, I discovered those last year, thanks for mentioning those!
Come to think of it, I think I'll make up a thread for the French scene, but it'll have to be seperated into past/present and styles as well.
There is also a feature I'd like to focus on, which is the variuos bands who were started by brothers.

I love all four bands/albums mentioned so far. Dunno what else to write. The Triode album is also cool because its easy to get people not into prog to dig it as well.
That 16 min. epic from Artcane is a near masterpiece. |

4.75 stars really. One of those hidden gems from the not yet totally discovered French jungle (this one dates back from 71) it was released on the Futura Label (only five or six albums before extinction) . The common error that most review makes is to mention Jethro Tull just because there is a flute. Ofr course there is a bit of that but also much more. Of real interest is a cover of one of my fave Beatles number Come Together but instrumental . Yes sir! Instrumental! Great interplay with all the musicians makes this album a valuable pearl to you would sorry to miss out on. 
Some well played fusion hailing from France here! The flute player apparently studied under Ian Anderson and its apparent once you hit track 4! Michel Edelin is just as good as the master and adds his own interesting twists. I would say Triode is a mix between Tull, Focus and Yezda Urfa (I mention YU as it is fast paced and energetic). Be sure to check out this rare gem any way you can!
