HI PROG FRIENDS, THIS IS CÉSAR INCA.

Now that I find that SAMURAI is in the Archives,  I wonder why THE WEB isn't here as well, since SAMURAI is the continuation of the aforesaid band. THE WEB recorded two albums in the psych-rock vein, with an Afircan-American frontman on vocals. For their third and final album "I Spider", they turned to prog-jazz, with keyboardsman Dave Lawson being the new frontman. Four tracks from this album are in this Myspcace blog:  http://www.myspace.com/webjazzprog70

Covers and setlists for their albums are available in the Internet, so it shouldn't be much trouble to put them here. The "I Spider" album sounds like a cross between Egg, Colosseum (band in which future Lawson-associate Dave Greenslade played) and old-fashioned hippy jazz-rock.

   Kind regards.

Sounds like something I must listen to, even though the genre placement might prove a bit tricky. We'll see, and then get back to you ASAP.

The music is great! I liked all of the myspace songs.

They remind me of Out Of Focus in their balance of rock and jazz so adding them in Jazz Rock would be a good choice, although I don't know much about the genre to make a valid opinion.

Actually, that should be the same label for SAMURAI, but they were put in Crossover. Maybe getting THE WEB into jazz-prog will in turn reinstate SAMURAI in the right label... maybe...

    Kind regards.

I'll post the link to this thread in the Xover Team thread. There is a sample by Samurai on their entry page, so they will have something to go by. Unfortunately, as you may know, bands added at the beginning of the site's activity were not always placed in the right category, and Samurai was placed in Art Rock, and not yet reached by the team in their cleanup sessions.

Regarding THE WEB...

Link for covers and reviews of first and third albums: http://www.vintageprog.com/www.htm

Link for covers and tracklists of second and third albums: http://eil.com/shop/artistlist.asp?artistname=web

Discography: http://wm03.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&sql=11:dpftxql5ldke~T2

A more fully informed discography: http://eil.com/shop/ExtSearch.asp?DiscArtist=Web  -  it also has a band picture, although I tend to think that this entry should include a photo from the Lawson era, but it would be OK as well with the original line-up.

Cesar, Samurai are free to be moved whereever The Web ends up.... they are not Xover.  They were apparently added  in AR before there was a team in place,  and not reached in the clean-up before the split happened, then ended up in Xover with  the split.  We are still fine tuning everything with the new subs.  So many bands....so little time LOL

Once again... THE WEB IS EXCELLENT FOR THE ARCHIVES!! I can't stress this enough...

The entry of this band, whose third album saw the entry of keyboardsman-singer Dave Lawson to turn it from a R'n'B act to a prog act, was the seed for SAMURAI, which in turn was one of the sources for GREENSLADE. This entry remains long overdue five months after it was first suggested in the forums. Crossover, Proto-Prog, Eclectic,... I don't care, as much as it makes sense with the location of SAMURAI.

The Myspace blog is there for all of us to check.

       Kind regards.

I wish I could. Let me see if I can do it. It should naturally go where SAMURAI is. SAMURAI is "I Spider"-era THE WEB with an extra saxophonist.

      Kind regards.

and so few people....LOL

as I said before... where ever The Web go... you can take Samurai with them.. you have the Xover's team's blessing.

If you want them added in Xover just to get them in the archives.. and they can be dealt with later..  go ahead and add them.
