I echo that question - for instance, the Live At Leeds CD/LP is a tour de force because of Martyn's rhythm section John Stevens and Danny Thompson.

John Martyn has enjoyed major success for the last forty years and in 2007 celebrated the fortieth anniversary of the release of his first album London Conversation. Since then John has released many landmark albums including One World which was released in late 1977. In March 1978 John appeared on German television to promote the album. The live concert included songs from the album including Big Muff, Couldn't Love You More, Small Hours and Certain Surprise. These songs featured alongside John Martyn classics such as May You Never, Glistening Glyndebourne and the perennial Solid Air.

ClapThe performance captured here really is one of the best John Martyn performances of the seventies. John is extremely relaxed and on form throughout and performs requests from the attentive audience even managing to laugh and joke with the audience when he breaks a string just before playing a stunning version of Solid Air.

A major point of this DVD release is the inclusion of the song I'd Rather Be The Devil which was performed and recorded but due to time constraints was edited out of the programme. This DVD therefore represents the first time that the full performance has been released officially on DVD and as such will be a valuable and highly desirable addition to any John Martyn fans collection. The DVD will be sold through a dedicated micro site where a low resolution sample video can be viewed along with further information.
