This is meant, actually, to be an aprecciation thread dedicade to this finnish atmospheric folk band. If you already know them, leave your opinions here Big%20smile

If not, before getting some samples, check out some info of their stuff:

http://www.tenhi.com/history

I was astonished the first time I listened to Maaaët, their masterpiece IMO. And as of today, I've heard all of their albums. Special mention to chamberry, who reccomended me this marvelous band some time ago.

I was yet more astonished when I took a look at the info I posted as an hyperlink ^^^. Here's an excerpt:

We have a big heart for melancholia — sadness is beautiful. The blue side of life is where we are as persons and as artists. The music also reflects our introversion.

In fact, Tenhi's sound is pretty dark and sad. But well....... I was reccomended, now I reccomend you all for posting this thread to invite you to take a voyage into the cold lands of Scandinavia Thumbs%20Up

...you won't be dissapointed.

Smile

A brilliant band! Clap

Maaäet is the saddest album I've ever heard. Is downright depressing, somber, desolate and melancholic.

Fans of slow and depressive music should check them out. Check out my review if anyone's interested.

Let me join the praises. As someone who loves this kind of mood in music, this fits me perfectly. Beautiful and wonderful.

They're fantastic, I love this sort of music. Cold and depressing, maybe why I'm such a big fan of black metal too, but this is just brilliant.
Thoroughly recommended.

I wouldn't call it directly sad or depressing(perhaps because I live so far north, a place where I have grown quite used to atmospheres similar to the ones simulated in Tenhi's music, to an extent where it does not depress me), but otherwise, I find your description to fit very well with how I perceive the album. I'm grateful that you recommended it to me! Especially now, the mood is so perfect for this time of year. Sun rises after I go to school and sets before school's over, so the dark atmosphere of the album really fits the atmosphere around here.
The scattered jigsaw of my redemption laid out before my eyes
Each piece as amorphous as the other - Each piece in its lack of shape a lie

I'm sure there's no coincidence; I've heard before a similar statement where Tenhi was  remotely related to black metal. I know you didn't relate them directly, but as I told you, once I heard an akin comment. I don't know anything about black metal....; is there such a link? Confused

They're pretty good indeed. It's not something I wish to listen to all that often, but when the mood strikes... Cool

I only know one or two of their songs, but they're very melancholy and pleasant.
