Very nice, and quite easy listening. Not sure how prog they really are because of that, but then again, I consider PFM and Genesis also 'easy listening prog'.

I invited them to join us here and share some more about themselves and their future plans.

Nice find once again, Andrea.

Hi all, I' m Layra' s lead singer and, speaking in behalf of all of us, I want to thank you so much for your opinions: we were so amused when we found the email regarding this thread.

I found this website almost two years ago and I think it is one of the best resource on the web for progressive music: your huge archive is an endless supply for people that listen every day this kind of music.

Well, speaking about Layra, we consider us a sort of hybrid band but as you stated before ( and we completely agree with you ), it is really hard to define the word "prog".

In my opinion "progressive" is every answer to pop music, too much mass-oriented and so banal. That' s why it is so hard to define it, it is something you can' t hold, it is inconstant, mutable, fluent...

What I think is that progressive is, above all, a differeny way of thinking. And that' s why our songs can be really considered prog...

^ Very nicely put Moreno. Clap

It is refreshing to hear an artists view of their own music and their thoughts on what being Progressive is all about. The process of creating music is different to the act of listening to it and the thinking behind the music is often as important as art of making it.

I like what I've heard of your music and hope you'll release a full album soon.

Welcome here Moreno, and thanks for providing these very true statements. I wrote my previous post while my mind was wandering along the different (sub)genres we have on this site, trying to find a fitting please for Layra. I'll be listening some more for sure!

Keep us posted on any new material!

You can bet we will keep you updated Smile

We are considering several recording companies' offers trying to find the best for us, actually.

Our first album is scheduled for next spring ( cross fingers ).

Hi Finnforest,

first of all, thanks for asking me news about LayrA's project. I'm very proud to inform you that we have finally completed our first album, Chiaroscuro. We're gonna sign a contract with an important digital delivery label, so hopefully our tracks will be available for download on iTunes, Napster, VirginMedia and so on very soon.

We don't have a retail distributor yet, just the aforementioned digital one. So please let us know if you to review the album, so we can send it to you or Progarchives.

In the meantime, you can listen to some complete samples on  http://www.myspace.com/layrasproject , we've added a couple of new tracks, like 'Nessun destino', probably the "progiest" track of the album.

Keep in touch.

Finally our first album is out: We're gonna sign a contract with an important digital delivery label and we're estimating several proposal for retail distribution as well, but we've already started with online sale on our website. So, could I send one copy to you or to progarchive staff? Just let me know if you need other infos or stuff.

I moved this thread to "Suggest" - maybe the Eclectic team can have a first listen - and respond to Pride's request above.

Absolutely, but not sure exactly who you'd send it to if it's a hard-copy (CD).
I'll take a listen to the myspace fairly soon (tomorrow probably) and then mention my impressions here.

Late EDIT: Well I tried before with myspace and no playlist came up.  Returned to this a couple of times to see if it would work, but still nothing (nothing uploaded I suppose).  'Twas rejected for RPI before.  Can't find music samples at the homepage either.
