Hmmm, NO. I did get a poster with the CD. Maybe that will increase it's value?

but if it isn't with every copy then it will probably..

I just got this off the progrock records forum. A letter from Steve Wilson regarding a US release of Blackfield.

Reply Blackfield album - international release
------------------------------------------------------------ --------------------
Maybe I'm a bit late but I would urge people outside of Israel not to waste their money on the Israeli edition of the Blackfield album by buying it from this jazzis website or ebay. The international edition is going to be out soon and will feature a lot of extra material - perhaps it will be a 2 CD set, we are still finalising things. Though I recognise that some fans were not prepared to wait, complaints about the fact that they bought an inferior version on import will get no sympathy from me! We even made a point of not selling it through the PT store to discourage people outside Israel from buying this edition.

I have been looking forward to hearing Blackfield, but haven't heard it yet.  Where did you get the CD?

I really don't agree with aviv's good voice.. it's kind of bad really..

And even of how much I enjoy PT.. Wilson has to do something different..
he is doing a bit of the same all over again.. and again ..

It's a good album though.. but I don't think it is an essentional album or so..

There are a few Porcupine Tree fanatics out here. I am curious as to your perspective on Blackfield.

Here's mine:

It's much too short, 36 minutes. Steve Wilson's voice, mellotron work, atomspheric and sometimes bombastic guitar parts ring too close to the PT sound. I do like it, strong song writing in a dark vein, of course.

Aviv Geffen has a good voice, although it's close to SW in timbre and range. They could be interchangable without a change in dymanics, which is the main problem with the recording.  I would have liked to have heard something "different." Geffen didn't bring anything cultural into the mix. Some Israeli percussives and rythms would have perked things up, No?
