Why is Soundgarden not on PA? Anybody know this? I think they should be in "Heavy Prog", maybe I'm mistaken, but I don't think so...So...I suggest to add Soundgarden to Heavy Prog.... They are prog for shure (IMO ofcourse)!
To be the one who seeks so I may find .. (Metallica)

just curious, what elements of Soundgarden's sound do you find progressive.
I think they're  a good band, just a good band that has nothing to do with prog.

If my memory serves me correctly, for whatever that is worth, I seem to recall a thread from a few months back regarding a best of prog list which was published either on another website or in a magazine which included Soundgarden, which of course caused some minor skirmishes and a few losses of life.  It may have been from modern drummer or something listing the best prog albums or something along those lines.  Not much help, but does anyone else recall that thread or that list?

Prog? They may incorporate odd time into their songs, but other than that, there really isn't much to do with prog in Soundgarden. Metallica are more prog than Soundgarden IMO and many others opinions.

I think that Superunknown could be called Prog-Related, but that's about it. I wouldn't include them here.

I do love Soundgarden (probably the best of that grunge movement) but they really aren't prog.
They're probably not even prog-related.

This brings up a fair point though: just because something is good doesn't mean it's prog

God, how I love superunknown and down on the upside

Soundgarden is fantastic, but not a prog band.  Just like everyone else said.

No, but we can call something "prog-related" if it uses many elements of prog music, and Superunknown is quite experimental and avant-garde. Still, even if we call it that it doesn't mean that the band must be added.Smile

What others failed to notice from this is that micky appears to be drinking directly from the bottle...  Wink

Love Soundgarden, don't really consider them prog...

Soundgarden is good, But the onlything id consider progressive about thier music it Thier affinnity to play with time signatures, other than that its not really prog. Sure a lick or two could be included, espescially those few from Badmotofinger, but it isnt true prog.
