I recently downloaded Cosmic Nomad's 2007 release Vultress from eMusic.com and I am listening to it for the first time.  Does anyone have any thoughts on this retro sounding band?  I am hearing ELP.  I am hearing Deep Purple.  Just finished listening to Elephant in my Soup, the third track.  It has the humor of some of ELP's tracks or possibly Adrian Belew era King Crimson.  The singer reminds me a little of Adrian Belew.  There were two reviews of their new album listened, which I agree with entirely and do a better job describing this album than I have.

There were no ratings for their 1st album.  Has anyone heard it?  Is it similar in sound?  Please let me know what you know.

Since all I heard was an echo with the first post I decided to respond to myself.

I think that some forum members who are "stuck in the seventies" might really enjoy these guys.

I have the Vultress CD and I like it a lot. It's a Hammond-fest, I hear Deep Purple and Atomic Rooster. I haven't heard their first one.

I believe they have another one in the pipeline which Ray Vanderby promised to send me when it's released.

The band is called Cosmic Nomads (plural) btw.

Thank you Chopper.  I noticed that typo and was editing the subject name at the same time that you must have edited your post.

On their MySpace page they have posted some new songs from their new Millennium album which is to be released in February.

If my memory serves me right, I added the band when I was still with the HP team (I might come back, but now I have other issues to deal with). The band were suggested to us by HT (Bhikkhu), and both David and I were quite enthusiastic about what we heard. "Vultress" is indeed a Hammond-fest of the first order, and from what I read when researching the band for their bio, their leader is also rather concerned about the world's state of affairs - which is never a bad thing in my book.

Hi Raff,  Your memory serves you correctly.  Their PA page says thank you for the add by Ghost Rider.  I can definitely see this album appealing to you, knowing your professed admiration for Deep Purple.  Thank you.  Scott

As you probably already know, I am a big fan. I've looked for the first album, but can't seem to find it. I'm thinking about contacting the band directly. They also have a new one coming out called MIllennium.

I have had contact with them when they first applied to PA. You could try emailing Ray Vanderby at [email protected]. I'm sure he'd be more than happy to send a CD in for review.

Way ahead of you Alan. Ray has already responded, and is sending me copies of the first album, and the new one.
