Actually tried doing a much longer version of this poll yesterday which included a long list of "shanties, but there was a forum application error when I tried to post.  For what it's worth...

One "heavy" Canterbury Scene album vs. one "Heavy Prog" one, and another for those that prefer High Tide's second album (High Tide -High Tide) to Space Shanty and Sea Shanty, and some other lame options just cause it's me making the poll.  High Tide's albums are fine indeed, and important albums, but my vote goes to Space Shanty.

1972
Space Shanty
4.21
(62 ratings)

1969
Sea Shanties
3.88
(26 ratings)
Just a fanboy passin' through.

Both great albums indeed, but High Tide's debut wins for me, mainly due to the presence of one of my favourite instrumentals of all time - the monumental "Death Warmed Up".

I still have (and want) to listen to Khan (and his wrath?), but Sea Shanties is a blockbuster alright...

Neither have graced my ears, so my vote goes to the shanty-town library.

what about Achim Reichel's Dat Shanty Alb'm?  It's mostly pirate songs, but awesome pirate songs.  Prog-related though, since Achim Reichel made a krautrock masterpiece 4 years earlier (Echo). Wink

"Sea Shanties" for me, due to its incredibly raw power. though "Space Shanty" is an excellent album too; Stewart and Hillage indeed work together perfectly. but so do Hill and House, with just a bit more energy

KHAN - Space Shanty for me, both albums are great but the Khan one is one of my absolute favorite prog albums ever, pure magic.

Donīt know about High Tideīs one, but Space Shanty is a beloved one.
Seems to be like a kind of music that could bring peace to mankind and, of course,
itīs musically outstanding.
Iīll try to check the HTīs option
