Oh, I will definitely be going to one of the Park West shows. I was a frequent patron there in the '90s, and it's a great venue.

Does anyone recommend going to more then one venue. Would the setlists change and I heard rumors of a possible second band on the bill.

Two nights at the Keswick - brilliant! Does anyone know if there will be an album to promote?

Why would they do 8 shows in only 3 venues?

I would guess that those are places they really like to play. It probably is going to be some kind of tune up for the band.

I`ve never seen Crimson with an opening act and I`ve seen them 7 times. As for set lists I saw them on a double bill at the Spectrum here in Montréal for the last concert on the Three Of A Perfect Pair tour and the set lists were quite different but that`s probably because they were recording both shows for the Absent Lovers album which oddly was not released until 1998. I`ve never heard them play the same set list ever on the other 6 gigs. And I`ve never heard them play a song the same way twice. You just have to listen to the many live CDs that are available through the KC collectors club to glean this. Also, the venue also plays a role in the way the Crims sound and Robert Fripp is very selective when it comes to this. So this is another factor to consider when seeing Crimson live. The venue. The worst they ever sounded for me is when they played Place Des Arts in Montréal. The concert hall`s acoustics are set up specifically for The Montréal Symphony.

I`m pretty sure it`s a dry run for a full tour.

It'd be easier to feel sorry for you if you guys didn't still get all the british prog bands exclusively touring there. IMO, (besides the prog "festivals" in CA, etc) overall, America is shortchanged as far as prog concerts go. Especially in the midwest, there's barely any prog acts that pass by.

Well, here's my chance for the Chicago shows! Hope to be at one of them

Unfortunately, I doubt it.  Fripp has stated several times that the days of "touring" are over, as are the days of shows outside of the US.  It looks like the extent of KC's gigging will be occasional gigs in large US cities.  Which is good news for me, as there will probably be NYC gigs every time they do some shows, but it's bad news for anyone anywhere else.

OK, as long as they put out a DVD...
Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

If you follow Fripp's diary, you can see that they have not even rehearsed yet, much less write and record new material.

Even though Fripp states time and again that "I won't tour anymore", "KC won't tour Europe again", "I'm semi-retired", etc, he has expressed the idea of some special activity for KC's 40th anniversary next year. Maybe this is some kind of warm-up for it?

Yeah that`s right. As I tried to say earlier in the thread don`t get too exited until anything firm is anounced. Fripp can be very weird. At the same time I can`t see them doing just 8 gigs for the 40th anniversary of the band. Also, you have to understand that Fripp and the other guys in the band have other projects going. So let`s just sit tight wait and see what develops without getting too excited..

I'm going to one of the NYC shows and I'm stoked! I last saw them on the "Discipline" tour in Austin, TX. Can't believe it's been so many years. :(

Unfortunately, I found out about it late and my seats are way up high, but I'm sure I'll still enjoy it. My brother will be flying up from Texas to see the show with me.

I feel like such an idiot for not seeing them the last few times they came through NYC.

And I'm a bit bummed that Bruford won't be with them, but I'm sure they'll kick major ass.

Oh great. More gigs a million miles away.

HEY BOB!!  We have great weather in Sydney (sometimes) - I'm sure you''ll love it if you bring the crew over here.

And even if you don't love it, we will Smile   I strongly recommend the Enmore Theatre.
