Alright there's the list. This is probably been done before, but hopefully not as extensively as this...

I allowed multiple votes, simply because picking one would be impossible among the torrent of sounds that Ulver creates...so vote for your favorite three or so, and provide a list as well.

I'm looking for the general favorite Ulver albums, not necessarily their "most preferred" or "best" (according to a subjective poll)...

Here are mine:

1. Blood Inside
2. Shadows of the Sun
3. Kveldssanger
4. Lyckantropen Themes
5. Themes From.....
6. Perdition City
7. Bergtatt (.5)
8-etc. The Rest of 'Em.

For the record, there is no Ulver release (except for maybe the work on the split, and Vargnatt) that'd I'd give under 3 stars.

Enjoy!

Uggghhh, I wish I had more Ulver! I only have They're first, they're last, and the Blake album, all of which are excellent!

You deserve to treat yourself to more; specifically their newer albums. Do so, and soon!

Good. I hope you enjoy them thoroughly.

Also, don't let this site scare you away from the other two albums in the black metal trilogy (Kveldssanger, and Nattens Madrigal).

Kveldssanger is all folk and is really sweet--especially considering it was made when the band members were like 16-17.

Nattens Madrigal is unforgivable in that it is blaringly black metal from start to finish. But--look around the internet and you'll find it's highly regarded among black metal (many even consider it the best black metal album of all time, though I think this is an overshot). If you can get past the shoddy production, I think you'll enjoy it--especially if you liked Bergtatt. I'm not the biggest black metal fan ever, and I love it...so who knows?

Either way, check them out.

Oh, and obviously Blood Inside and Perdition City. While I love the former to bloody freaking death, the latter--while still great--is admittedly overrated among their discography I think...still great though.

Voted for Bergtatt.  The only Ulver releases that I have time for are Vargnatt demo, Bergtatt and Nattens Madrigal.

Everything else they've done (that I've had the misfortune of hearing) is utter tosh to these ears!
Somewhere out of a memory of lighted streets on quiet nights...
