Why is it that even the prog fans like the synth pop albums of Tal Talk, but hate everything post hackett Genesis?

The Colour of Spring Seriously, you've just named my two favouritest albums from 2007' fall. It's unfair. It's like choosing between your mother and father Honestly, I like them all. Even "The Party is Over" Talkies own!!! :fan:

Spirit for me, not that it is better than Laughing Stock, it just came first. Spirit was quite an eagrely awaited release when it came out - those who "got" Talk Talk, those who liked Colour of Spring for more than it's superficial worth were expecting great things from Talk Talk, yet we knew Hollis had a serious Heroin problem and feared the worse; Colour revealled that the band was more than mere synth-pop and it hinted at more than it showed but no one expected anything so bleak, so touching/reaching, so personal as Spirit of Eden. Spirit makes you ache, yet it doesn't drag you down, it reveals its darkness by holding it up to the mirror and then stripping it away, for all it's melloncolly, it's an album of contradictions that ultimately makes you feel good about life.

Laughing Stock. When this was released in took my breath away.A truly inspirational piece of work.A template for many post-rock artists.

Hey not all of us listen to only prog, I love It's My Life, a great album. I voted for Spirit of Eden though it's very close, Laughing Stock is great as well.

I think this one is a real tough choice. These 2 albums are very close in structure, atmosphere and in a way are 2 parts of a whole. I voted Laughin stock cause I feel it is not respected enough here.

Both albums are incredible pieces of music. However, I prefer Laughing Stock between the two.

I have only listened to 'Spirit of Eden' twice. I didn't really know what to think of it, so no vote here either. I am interested in 'Laughing Stock' though.

I guess I'm in the minority, but I prefer laughing stock. They are both great, albeit similar, albums; I just think I've gotten into the songs on Laughing Stock more over the years.

I've only had laughing stock for a couple of days, but I think Spirit of Eden is they're best, it's a friggin' masterpiece. Though I havent given laughing Stock enough attention, so I'll hold off on the voting for now.
